Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

They just change from the NET to the HESI A2 test effective October, so nobody knows what to expect on this test. I ordered the study guide but they only offer a few sample math questions and even fewer anatomy & physiology quesitons. The study guide seems pretty simple but looking at online help makes it seem more in-depth. I have severe test anxiety so not knowing what to expect doesn't help any. Does any one have any information on this? I greatly appreciate it!

Red face Re: Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

Hi! I to have major test anxiety, but I studied and did very well on my Hesi. Its very basic. Dont worry. Whats in the study guide is what they are going to test you on. Dont read too much into it. All it is, is basic math. I think its 8th grade level. Divsion, multiplication, addition and subtraction of fractions. Ratio and Proportions. Percentages. I made an 96 on theat section. Exactly what the book has thats whats on the test. Reading Comprehension. Dont read to much into the question. Just answer what they are asking you. I made a 98 on that section. My lowest grade was on the grammer. 88. Its all basic. Just study whats in the guide. Anatomy & Physiology also. Read the guide! Now I did study the Thea guide just for practice, but that was way harder than the actual Hesi test. But I mostly just worked on the Reading Comprehension part. It helped quite a bit. I dont know if you are going to have a vocabulary section. We did not, but for some reason I have been told that was difficult. The vocabulary thats in the book was not in the test. Its all hear say. I dont know for sure. Good Luck!! Dont worry too much.

Re: Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

I took this test last spring, and it was fairly easy. Don't stress over it. Like the other poster said, the math and reading are just jr. high level. They give you a calculator on the math too. I made like a 98 on the math and a 95 on the reading. The vocabulary I didn't think was too hard. It was medical vocabualry, but alot was fairly common sense. Just review common medical jargon, nothing too complicated though. The atatomy was a bit harder because I had completed a&p I, but was currently take a&p II, so alot of it we hadn't covered yet, and I got like a 78. If you've had all your a&p it should be review. Just review your a&p and try to have a good knowledge of that. Hope you do well!

Re: Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

Hi there!
Is there any geometry or algebra in the math sections? As for the vocabulary, is it SAT type words or medical terminology? Did you take the Chemistry part of the exam? I plan on taking the exam very soon.

I don't recall any geometry or algebra on the test, it all seemed pretty basic, though it has been a while. If there is some, than it's not very complicated. The vocabulary was general medical type vocabulary. I didn't have to take the chemistry part, so I can't tell you about that.

Good luck on the test!

Re: Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

I am taking it next month. Everyone has told me that the A&P is the hardest section. Don't panic just do your best. If you don't do as well as you like then get the study guide, and/or take an A&P class prior to the next testing date. Good luck.

Re: Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

Has anyone seen any sample HESI Admission Assessment Test questions on the internet? I got their study guide and it is terrible, just as the reviewers on Amazon.com said. Worse, they said the study guide wasn't much help at all with regard to the science sections, because the study guide didn't match the actual material on the test.

I have to do the English/Reading, Math, Chemistry and Biology sections for my local CC. Every other nursing school around here -- including some major nursing schools at big university hospitals -- still use the NET. Sigh.

I wish there were a prep book that could let me have a peek at the kinds of questions they actually ask on the HESI admission test!!

Re: Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

I will have to take the HESI Assess Test soon as well and am not too good at math and have never taken chemistry. I also took A&P I like 4 years ago. Am I in trouble with this test? I ordered the study guide and I hope that will help me, but I REALLY want to get into Nursing school. Should I be scared?

Re: Anyone taken HESI A2 admission assessment test yet?

I am taking the HESI this coming thurs. Every other school takes the NET, which I took last yr. and it was easy. The CC that I am taking it for carries the study guide for it. They wont let you take it out but you can study it there. You are also able to make copies in areas that you may think you need improvenments on. Check with the school, they should know where you can get a guide from if not from their library! Hope it helps and good luck to BOTH of us!
