Question - Anyone applying to Brookhaven?
|
|
Just wondering if anyone else is applying (or has applied) to the Brookhaven nursing program for Spring 2008. I just turned in my application last week. And I'm also curious to see what other people had as far as total points. I am not sure what the minimum is to get in this semester.
Thanks!

I have 34.25 points. I am not sure how many you need to get in. I keep on hearing different things from everyone that I talked to. I heard from several people that it would be pretty high this year, but the lady in the admissions office told me that last semester the lowest points that were accepted was in the teens....I am just not sure and I am worried!

What do you need to apply at Brookhaven?
My plan is to apply at TCC next year but I want to check out all options.
It seems difficult to prepare to apply to several different schools.... when they all seem to want different things?!?!?!?!?

Brookhaven is probably the most different than many of the nursing schools. Your admission isn't based on your GPA alone. Your GPA is just a small part.
You have to take English, A&P, Psychology and Intro to Chemistry for the prereqs. You also have to take the HESI A2 test, and they recommend that you get as many of the support courses out of the way as possible.
So basically your admission is based on your GPA + your HESI score + the amount of support courses that you have taken.

I was looking at the DCCCD website..... what's the difference between Brookhaven, El Centro and Mountain View? Do they ALL have RN programs???

Ok Brookhaven and Mountainview are the same and El Centro and Northlake are the same. Northlake and Mountainview are both satellites of El Centro and Brookhaven.
Brookhaven and El Centro have different requirements for their own programs. I think El Centro bases theirs more on GPA, while Brookhaven bases their mostly on the HESI test. Personally, unless you have 4.0 GPA, I think Brookhaven would probably be the easiest to get into. I only say this because I did well on the HESI test...if English was not your first language, then it might be a bit more difficult because the HESI has a lot of reading and grammar that would put someone like this at a slight disadvantage.
