Re: Any stay at home moms with little ones?

I am a SAHM to two boys 7 years & 20 months. Like other moms I have taken lots of classes online, evening classes, & right now I'm in class Monday thru Thursday 8:30AM-11AM. I am lucky enough that a friend of mine has also been going to school and she has 3 kids so we have worked our schedules so that we can trade kids. She gets my oldest & her 2 oldest on buses in the morning & watches the other & then when she has class I have the kids. I hope to be in the nursing program this fall so I have someone else I know lined up to watch the kids for me but I have to get loans to cover paying her.

Re: Any stay at home moms with little ones?

SAHM here to a beautiful 14-month old little boy!!

I am currently finishing my last semester of pre-reqs, with Micro, A&P II, and Dev Psych, and it looks like I'll be coming out with all A's. I also go to school Monday-Thursday. MW's in the evening, and T/TR in the afternoon. Yet, none of this would be possible without my mom help. Usually, my husband goes to school in the mornings and works in the evenings, while I SAH in the mornings and go to school in the evenings. When I go to school in the afternoon me and my husband are able to switch off with the baby until he drops him off at my moms' until I get out of school. But other than that my mom is there to watch him in the evenings or even when I need to go to tutoring on the weekends. I feel so grateful to have someone watching my son who I KNOW loves him and will take care of him 100%.

I hope to be starting nursing school this fall and I am somewhat skeptical about putting my son in daycare, but I may have too. Luckily, a sister at my church works at a another fellow sister-in-Christ's in-home day-care center, so that may not be so bad. At least I know he will be with someone who he knows and I know, and also trust, we will just have to see how it goes.

Stay strong everyone!!

Wow Nurse2b2011! Hats off to you. I have 5 at home: 9,7,3.5,2,9mo and I decided I should only take 1 class / quarter. How do you take 3? I can't even imagine. My 9 mo old & 2 yr old are so much work..how / when do you study ? When do you do the online class? Now I feel like I should be doing more...you must be extremely busy! You are a rock star! I don't know how you do it!

Re: Any stay at home moms with little ones?

I am a sahm to a 4 year old and 20 month old. So far I've taken all of my classes at nitetime so my hubby watches them. I tried to work out a schedule where I would go while my 4 year old was in pre school and a friend would watch my toddler but the morning professor was rated really poorly so I signed up for another evening class. I only take one at a time, it's really enough for me. It's very hard to make take to study and still be a good mommy and take care of the house but little by little I'm knocking those pre reqs off the list!

Re: Any stay at home moms with little ones?

Thanks! Sometimes I think I might just be crazy. This semester I am taking English 101, Speech, Algebra and Medical Terminology (online). I honestly don't know how I get everything done. It just happens. I can definitely say that there has been times that I just cry. Afterwards I usually feel better and can focus. It can be very overwhelming but I am so glad that I decided to go full time. However now that we are at the end of the semester things are so unbelievably busy between my school and end of the year activities for the kids. I think the hardest part has been the guilt. Trying to balance my time can be so hard. I decided not to take any summer classes so I can spend some undivided time with my boys. They have been pretty understanding. The hardest thing has been that our 7 month refuses to take a bottle.

Anyways, sorry for the rambling. My two year old is a great independent player which really helps. I try to study/do homework while the baby is napping. I also have time on the weekends when my husband is home. There has also been many late nights. I have had to learn that I can't be supermom. Also I am not the only one capable of cleaning the house. I think next semester will be a little better since my youngest will be one by then.

One more thing, I was a slacker with my online class in the beginning and had to do NINE chapters in less than two weeks. Each chapter included 3 assignments. I learned my lesson after that.
