Question Any one from the Houston Area? Hesi help!

Being burned out after years as an insurance claims adjuster, I hope to start a new career in nursing. Since I'm not a youngster (even though I feel like one), I'm wanting to get out as quickly as possible. I have a BA from years ago, with B's in English and Psychology. I'm going to take Psych over inorder to get an A. I just finnished A&PI and Growth & Dev with A's, but I'm worried about the Hesi. I plan to apply to several colleges as I hear nursing is highly competive.

I will be taking the Hesi for Cyfair in a week or so and now find out that Houston CC is just starting the Hesi requirment for the Aug. application deadline. I know Cyfair test only on Math and English. HCC is testing on not only Math and English, but also Grammer and A&P. How long are the passages that are being tested on? The sample in the Hesi quide is not very long, but passages in the Net, GRE, and othe critical reading study guides are quite long. Any info. greatly appreciated-getting nots in my stomach. Also, does anyone know how the Hesi will enter in to the points scoring system they use to qualify applicants. Helppp---------Mccordd

Re: Any one from the Houston Area? Hesi help!

Hello,
I know it's been awhile since you posted this, but I see you're from Houston & you are in the insurance field and thinking about getting into nursing. I too am in the insurance industry and I am just now looking at the nursing program and starting my prereqs. What has your experience been with the colleges here and getting in to the RN program?
Thanks.
