Re: Any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 Applicants out there?

Bella Kate
I agree with volunteerpioneer, I love your great attitude! That attitude will surely make this journey a whole lot easier and applying to nursing school is indeed a journey. Just like volunteerpioneer it took me about two years of full-time hard work to finally start nursing school, in Sept 08 it will have been two years since I graduated from undergrad.

Although, I still wouldn't give up on receiving an acceptance or alternate spot. I know it's easier said than done since you see people receiving responses but the possibility is definitely there. Anyways, I am glad to help with what I can and you can send me a private message should you wish to contact me.

CONGRATS Bella Kate!!!! I am so excited and happy for you!
Also congratulations to deni_in_LA and volunteerpioneer!!! I hadn't officially congratulated you two so I thought this would be a perfect time. I am so excited for all of us .
To those who will be attending the MEPN program: I hope that we can get better acquainted over the summer, I would really like to get to know some of my classmates before the program starts, anyone like that idea?

I'd love to meet all of you. One of the things I liked about this program is the small group size. Jorge said they accepted 40 students, but I'm sure some will be declining, esp. with their late notification time. I can meet anytime but next week. What areas do you all live in? I'm in West LA near the 10/405 intersection. My email is drmolitoris@yahoo.com.

Re: Any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 Applicants out there?

Does anyone have a sense as to how many days a week we'll be on campus? I'm slightly concerned about the distance (I'm in the valley), but I drive nearly an hour to work now as it is, so it's doable. Does anyone know any students currently in the program? I'd love to get details from them!

deni_in_LA

I live not too far from you. I am in the San Fernando Valley like Bella Kate. I guess we'll get in touch again after next week so that we can arrange something. Yay!!!

Bella Kate

I don't know anybody in the program but I think deni_in_LA was able to meet someone in the program, maybe she can help you. I don't know how many days we'll be on campus but it seems the days we are not on campus we will be doing clinical hours, I checked out the list they gave us on some of the clinical sites and it seems most of them are around the same area as the school like Norwalk, Harbor city, Downey, Bellflower and Long Beach. I also remember Jorge mentioning that we might be using the simulation labs at Cal State Fullerton. Therefore, I decided that the valley would be too far to commute from, plus I drive an SUV gas guzzler. I hope to find housing around that area, like Torrance or Long Beach, but it all depends on financial aid. Of course these thoughts are just my .

3 Valley girls heading down to DH! Jess08, I know what you mean about thinking about moving. I'm stuck with the commute b/c my husband wouldn't want to move (although the beach areas sound dreamy!). Thanks for sharing what you know about where we are and when. I think what you said sounds right. I thought I heard something about the VA hospital as an option for certain clinicals, but maybe that was just something I had hoped.

Do any of you know where I might get a Micro class? Sad to admit, but I didn't think I was getting in, so I dropped one that started earlier and enrolled in a Chem class. Bad move! Thanks if you know of one!

Let's definitely try to find a time to meet up!

Re: Any CSUDH MEPN Fall 2008 Applicants out there?

The VA was definitely mentioned by Jorge at my orientation. Hopefully that won't change. There is mention in the papers we were given about Kaiser "WestLA/Sunset" for clinicals---that might also be a close drive for the 3 of us. If it looks doable, I am open to carpooling (and have a Prius with stickers). I'm also hoping that the csudh sim lab is still happening--has anyone heard?

I assume no one has gotten an email from Jorge yet with our next steps?
