To all getting set to start...

Good Luck to all waiting on acceptance letters and Congrats to all who have already received their acceptance letters. I was cleaning out my studying desk and organizing my textbooks as well as my files getting ready for my senior year of nursing school and i happen to stumble on the folder that held all my application materials for all the schools i applied to almost a year and half ago and i found my original/official letter of acceptance into my program. It brought back so many memories of the anxiety of waiting, waiting and waiting and finally getting that 'thin' envelope in the mail and feeling so sad because somewhere i had heard the evil rumor that the acceptances letters were supposed to come in packets (i'm sure some can relate) and hesitantly opening it and learning the inevitable but then i started reading the first few words "We are happy to inform you..." and that was all i needed to read. I finished reading the later that afternoon. Now with my first (junior) year done and gone with i was reflecting back on all the work and time it took. For all of those who have been accepted, enjoy your time before your program starts! I know, it is much easier said than done because alot of you want to just get on with it but remember soon enough you will be overwhelmed with nursing course work. So enjoy it and have a blast buying your supplies...it was fun and exciting for me as i'm sure it is for you all. Again, Congrats and goodluck to all of you future nurses

Re: To all getting set to start...

Thank you Mex! Having just learned that I was accepted 9 days ago I am filled with so much anxiety, stress and excitement. I can't wait until it is all behind me and I can relax some.

Good Luck everyone.

Re: To all getting set to start...

What a kind message Thanks, it's so valuable to get advice from someone who has recently walked down this road.

I just got my letter yesterday and I'm trying to decide whether I should take two terms of organic chemistry in 8 weeks or if I should not go to school this summer, but just work and relax before my nursing program starts. I'll definitely consider you post as I consider my options.

Peace,

And keep your receipts, you can write it all off at the end of the year!

Re: To all getting set to start...

As someone who just graduated my words of advice is take it all in, enjoy every minute of it, it goes by so fast that afterwards you think to yourself....oh this is it? Do i really know everything that I need to know? The answer is no..lol...Everyday as a nurse is a learning experience. Make sure you take time to still enjoy the things that you love. Nobody wants to be cared for by a burnt out cranky nurse..lol..Your dreams and passion of becoming nurses are in the near future. Grab for it and dont let go. Enjoy the ride!!! Its worth everybit of it!

Re: To all getting set to start...

I start in Aug, and I am sooooo ready. I took my medical cpr class this week and got my card. I turned in my background check today and got it out of the way. I also got my second Hep B, and will get my third and final one the last week of July. I still can't believe I got in!!!!!

Re: To all getting set to start...

I know once i got my acceptance letter and all my stuff like supplies and shots, etc... i too was soooo ready to start the program...BUT once i was two weeks into the first semester i totally wanted my summer back...lol. Don't get me wrong...i love nursing school! i loved clinicals and class and learning but it gets to a point where all your doing is studying for tests that never seem to end!! Then you really want to have a break where there isn't one. But on the flip side it's hard to enjoy the breaks, because even now after knowing all the work we did this past school year i'm still restless this summer and anxious to get started on my senior year...because the sooner it gets here the sooner i graduate, so i can so relate!
