Re: All About the NET

Hi all,

Here is some info that I have posted on my personal website about the NET test. Also, here are a couple of great websites to show what the NET test will look like. Check it out, it was a big help (although I didn't find the site until after I took the NET!!) I had another great site posted on my website, but I just checked and the link is no longer working

http://www.pvc.maricopa.edu/assessme...t/Navnet1.html
http://hfcclab.info/NET/index.htm

Also, for those asking, the TEAS is a college entrance type test, where as the NET is strictly a nursing entrance test. Totally different tests.

When I took the NET, I was really shocked with my reading score, as reading is my best subject. I aced the college entrance test on the reading portion, but on the NET, I got an 82%. Really disappointing. The math portion is so much easier. Just very basic math.

Information concerning the NET (Nurse Entrance Test)
The NET test has gotten a lot of people freaked out! But, it can be passed. The main thing to remember is it is just a test!! We have all had to take them, and once a person gets into Nursing School, it won't change! There will still be many a test to take!!
Many people have emailed me asking what to expect on the NET, so I will supply as much info as I can remember about it!!
There are various sections on the NET that you will be tested on. Most schools, though, ONLY look at the Reading and Math portion, not any of the rest. Why the rest is on there, I have no clue, but it is. So, here are the portions that you will test over, and what they contain:
  • Critical Thinking Appraisal
    Inferential Reading
    Main Idea of Passage
    Predicting of Outcomes
  • Learning Style
Auditory
Oral
Social
Solitary
Visual
Writing
  • Math Skills
    Algebra Equations
    Decimal Operations
    Fraction Operations
    Number Systems Conversions
    Percentage Operations
  • Reading
Reading Rate per Minute
Reading Percentile Rank
Reading Level
  • Stress Level Profile
    Academic
    Family
    Money/Time
    Social
    Work Place
  • Topics (Science)
    Anatomy & Physiology
    Biology
    Cellular Biology
    Chemistry
    Testtaking Skills
  • Written Expression
    Capitalization
Pronoun Case and Principle Parts of Irregular Verbs
    Punctuation
    Correct Sentence Structure
    Relative Pronouns of Standard Usage
    Spelling Demons
    Subject & Verb Agreement

Re: All About the NET

I am new to the forum and was reading posts here last night because I had to take the NET exam today. Wish I had Csantos' advice weeks ago I'm sure it would have helped me. I surprised myself though and did really well. I scored in the superior group. The test I took had tons of fractions and decimals on it. I think it only had two algebra problems. If you can add, subtract, multiply, divide fractions and change them into decimals and percents you will be fine. Luckily for me I had just reviewed all of this stuff for the Tabe test that I had to take yesterday. I was really shocked that I scored less on the reading than on the math as I have always been a straight A student in reading and sucked at math. I felt the reading was really hard and tricky. It seemed as if almost all the answers were correct, you couldn't really eliminate any and had to pick the best correct answer. I don't think there is really a way I could have studied that would have prepared me for that part of the test.

At least I passed and now I can quit stressing over it.
Blessings,

Re: All About the NET

Guys, I found interesting NET technical and developmental report. Look at it..you would know what test designers want to know and what you should know about the test. I kind of found it too late. http://www.eriworld.com/secure/net/nettech.pdf I took exam today for the 2x time. Interesting was that it was the same test and text, even though ,test takers said it would be different because everyone has its own edition. I could not keep up with the reading part , even though , I was preparing at home and braking down paragraphs. I have to admit that the study guide does not give enough material on reading part. It does not quite close to a real test. And I tried to find substitute material for a reading, however the NET test have a specific reading test format.

Re: All About the NET

Does anyone know if the NET is pretty much the same thing as the HESI A2?? Could the NET preparation help prepare you for the HESI as well?? Thanks...

Re: All About the NET

I am taking the NET again this summer. Last summer I only got 63 on my reading comprehension and the school I want to go to requires a minimum of 70.

Now I'm trying to study for it again but focusing on the reading comprehension. I don't remember much from the time I took it, it was all a blur. But does anyone know if the it was as difficult as the GMAT reading comprehension?

UGH I AM SO FRUSTRATED
