Re: All About the NET

Hi Csantos,

Some adjustments to your reply:

1) 7 2/5% of x is equal to 74.

2/5 = 0.4, not 0.2. Therefore, 7.4x /100 = 74, or 74x /1000 = 74.
Cross-multiply it => 74x = 74000 => x = 1000.

4) 1/8=(?)% x 5/8

1/8 = x/100 x 5/8
Multiply both sides by 8 to get rid of the bottom 8 (denominator) => 1 = x/100 x 5
Divide the bottom 100 by 5 => 1 = x/20.
Cross-multiply => x = 20.

Bottom line: work with small and whole number to save time and avoid mistakes by canceling out divisible numbers wherever possible and by memorizing some common fractions -- 1/2 = 0.5, 1/3 = 0.33, 1/4 = 0.25, 1/5 = 0.2, and 1/8 = 0.125 (this one is the test writer's favorite).

Now on to studying my pharm notes. I'll be having a dreadful first midterm next week.

Re: All About the NET

Hi guys,

I'm still studying for the NET over here, concentrating on the reading section.

My test is going to be given on the computer. Are they all standard format? My concern is whether I can go back to read the original passage or is it where you read the entire passage, answer the questions and won't be able to go back and re-read?

thank you

I don't know about the computer test, but if you can go back, there isn't much time to be rereading a whole lot. You run the risk of not finishing all of the questions.

Re: All About the NET

okay..but after you read the questions, it is possible to go back in the passage to find the answers right? or do you have to basically memorize the passage and answer all the questions from memory?

Is it like 30 questions to be answered in 30 minutes?

Re: All About the NET

I had 33 questions in 30 minutes

It should be possible to go back to the passage, but if you do it too frequently, you'll probably only complete about 20 questions.

It's basicly read the passage, answer the questions. Peek back a few times quick if you have to. The 30 minutes feels like 10.

Good luck
