I believe you can re-take your prerequisite classes, but some schools have a limit as to how many times you can actually re-take the classes for a better grade, and even so, re-taking those classes supposedly lowers your GPA. I'd say, focus on your pre-reqs as much as you can, since this is a huge deciding factors for most nursing programs. I'm mad at myself for not doing better last semester . If it's possible, try to work less so you have more time for school. I just think of it this way - focus now and it will pay off later. Once we get into the nursing programs, take the board exam, and get our licenses...ca-ching! LOL jp. But yeah, I hope I helped in some way. Good luck with all your endeavors!

Re: ah. so confused

Check to see if your school offers a course forgiveness policy. This is offered at my school and the second grade awarded replaces the original grade in the computation of the cumulative GPA.

The forgiveness policy is a great idea- retake the classes and it erases your previous GPA. Taking a class twice is a bit pricy though. You may consider taking fewer classes at once. Less cost-less work-more time for study. When I was doing my pre-reqs I only took 9credit hrs per semester. Took an extra year but my GPA was better and I didn't have to take any class twice- that would have taken an extra year as well and cost me more.

My school does not offer a forgiveness policy. You can retake a class but both grades will show and from what I understand they figure that taking it the second time around just means you knew what they were looking for when you retook the class and not really learned it. I would also suggest reducing your courseload to what is workable for you. If it takes a little longer at least you will have a stronger GPA to apply into the program. GOOD LUCK!

Depends on what the rules of the nursing school allow.

At my school they have an amnesty program for certain circumstances. They also let you re-take the class and only count the highest for GPA.

They also have a policy that you can't take more than XX number of courses over for financial aid reasons and I am not sure what this number is and it may be different in your school.

Best bet would talk to your advisor and maybe the financial aid office and registrar to find all this info out.

If you are dedicated and really want this, I think you can turn this around and do well.
