Age question

I am 44 yrs old and planning on going to nursing school. I am an ex-paramedic so I have a real good idea of what I getting into.
I just wondering is this a little too late in life to start over in a demanding carreer field?

Thanks for the imput
Sandy

Re: Age question

Hi Sandy,

First of all you are 44 years YOUNG. Nursing is such a rewarding career. It's never to late to change careers. I wish you all the best of luck in nursing school and your nursing career!

Oh, and BTW, to make it less "demanding" we need more people to enter into the profession to help spread the workload. So be an advocate for others who may think it's to late to enter nursing school. It's never to late. . .we need more nurses!

Re: Age question

I once knew a woman who became a nurse at age 55.

You are still young, so go for the gusto!

Re: Age question

Its never to late to turn over a new leaf or chapter in your life. You'd be suprised as to how many people are your age and going back to be a nurse and doing a significant career change. Good luck to you. Where are you looking to go to nursing school. I also reside in the DFW.

Re: Age question

No Way! You are not too old!!!

I just turned 40 and I'm hoping to get into the program for fall.

Many, many on this board are close to your age.You still have a lot to offer to the medical world, life experience is very important. I believe it and the knowledge I get from nursing school will make me a great nurse, and it will you too

Good Luck!

Re: Age question

I'm 46 and I am most definitely not the oldest person in my class. There are many mid-life career-changers attending NS as you will find out when you are accepted and begin your program!

You will also find out that your life experience and maturity will stand you in good stead - you have an enormous amount to offer whether you know it now or not.

Just go for it!
