Mendocino College is even more rural and thus is much easier to get into as there are not as many applicants. I am told that Mendocino College goes by grades (so not as much hinges on luck). I would say that the more "progressive pick" would by College of the Redwoods because it is closest to Arcata and Humboldt State University. Mendocino is beautiful and rural and not too far from San Francisco if you need to visit civilization every once in a while.
There is no where as nice as Portland- if I had half a chance I'd be applying there!
Good Luck!
Wannabecatcher,
Thank you for you input. I will check into these schools. Portland
Community College has a lottery too...if you want to throw your number in.
