Make sure and find out which pre-entrance test your particular school uses. Some are using, N.E.T, ACCUPLACER, PSB..ECT. You can get some great study preps & if you know which test you can post for other who have taken & possibly get their opinions.

Besides getting study preps, you can also check other nursing progams in your area. Not all nursing schools do pre-nursing entrance exams.

Goodluck!!

First, you need to ask what the name of the exam is. Next, invest in a good study guide to help you prepare for it. Most importantly do not start to worry about it so much, believe me I know it is easier said than done.

Once you know what exam it is find out what is the minimum score required to pass. Come back and lots of people here are more than happy to try to answer any questions.

Take care

Jessica

Get the study guide and review it cover to cover, even if you meet people that have taken the test and say "don't worry about studying"..............study it anyway. Usually the test will be identical in structure to the study guide. I took the NET and the TEAs and that was the case with both. I was worried about my tests when other people didn't seem to be worried at all. I got high 80s percentage on both. They're actually not that hard but they are timed which in some portions is stressful.

I used the NLN pre-entrance exam study guide by Mary E. McDonald 2nd Edition. My school recommends it. It is much similar like the actual exam (different questions of course ).

You can more than likely check it out from your library or go to your local book store (Barnes and Nobles/Borders, etc...) and compare them before you buy.

The exam is timed (3 one hour sections). The subjects are: Science,(60 Q's-covering Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth Science) Verbal Ability (60Q's-covering word knowledge and reading comprehension), and Math (40 Q's-covering algebra, decimals, intergers, fractions, geometry, etc... NOTE you cannot use calculator). Try taking the sample tests and reviewing the math section for info.

Hope this somewhat helps answer your question. This is what was on when I took it (6 months ago), and of course may not be 100% accurate or exactly how your school does things.

Good luck and keep us posted,

Jessica

Nln

I just took the NLN on June 3 2005. I used the RN Entrance Study Guide by McDonald too. It helped some with the Math and English, but not with the Science. It let me know what was going to be on there with the Science but if you didn't already know it the book isn't going to teach it to you. The best you can do is look at the right anwsers and hope to guess right when you take the actual exam. I got my results back Monday and did well. My school doesn't use your actual exam score. They use what percentile you are in from the norms group. Now I have to wait until August to see if I get in. Good luck with your exam.
