Re: 35/f Married w/3 kids I am too old ?

You have to decide what you want to do all day. My mom has been an LPN for almost 30 years and there is no way that I would do it. They don't get paid near enough to do the work that they do. LPN's provide a HUGE service yet seem to have a hard time getting the adequate respect.
As for you being too old, I am 34 with four kids. I dropped out of high school and was bad at math anyway so I had to have 2 semesters of 0 credit math. I decided that my age didn't really afford me to play around so I don't take time off. I take full semesters, study before the kids get out of bed, take summers, etc. I don't think my kids have suffered at all. In fact, they are flourishing now that I have a little self esteem in me!! I started last summer and will apply to nursing school this fall. I will have started in June of 07' and will graduate in Dec of 10'....Not too shabby.
You really can do anything you put your mind to. You will do some things that wont work, learn from it, and change it all around to fit your life and family.... Good luck to you!!

I don't know anything about the college, as I live in Texas, but you can do a search on it, or look in the Florida section on this site and see if anyone has posted anyhting there about it. If not, post a message there (in the Florida section) and see if anyone answers.

Good luck to you. I see that you found the thank you button just fine!! Lol!!

Re: 35/f Married w/3 kids I am too old ?

After the cost, the #1 thing to be sure of when checking out schools is to BE SURE they are fully accredited. About age, I'm 33 and starting BSN program in fall 08 and I am in the middle as far as age, there are younger but just as many older people in my class of 40

I say go for it! I'm 46! I just started last year and am almost finished with my pre-reqs. I'm definitely fulfilling my dream and you should too.

Re: 35/f Married w/3 kids I am too old ?

First of all to the site.I agree with all the previous post. I am 35 and in my last semester of pre courses and will begin my RN program in August. I too was not good in math, I just down right hated it. I did however to remedial math courses (2 to be exact) and they help me a great deal. I have been on this journey since August of 2006 but I will see it through to the end. I have a wonderful husband and an all-around great support system. Yes as long as I live I will continue to age but at least in a year and a half I will be an aging RN, which is what I want so much. Good Luck to you. Oh by the way at my school there is only 1 semester difference between LPN and RN (4 months) so if it is similar where you are I say go for it. Again I wish you the best.

Re: 35/f Married w/3 kids I am too old ?

My step-father went through a nursing program when he was in his late 30's - early 40's. He's been a nurse for a few years now and loves it. Now, I'm 27 and decided I want to do it as well. I'll probably be in my mid 30's when I finish, since like so many people here, I have a full time job and family, so I have to go to school part time, but I just keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end.

Go for it!! Good luck!!
