Wow, here is a really good explanation of how CAT works:

Perhaps I can explain how Computerized Adaptive Testing for the NCLEX works. The goal of Computerized Adaptive Testing or CAT, is to determine your competence, based on the difficulty of questions you can answer correctly, NOT how many questions you can answer correctly. This is a fundamentally different approach than is used on paper-and-pencil tests, where everyone receives the same questions. CAT examinations are individualized.

Woah!! Up until now I have only heard the same explaination about the CAT system explained 100x in the same fashion.

This is, hands down the best way to describe how this process works. Thank you very much!!!

I don't think anything else has ever made me feel so incompentant!!! but it was good info about how the test works!

Thumbs up Good Nclex Explaination (how it works)(posted before)

This explains NCLEX pretty well; you dont have to have a 70 or 80!
