hI,

I just registerd for my Kaplan complete review! I kept going back and forth on whether to take it or not. I found out that my school set up an account with Kaplan Philadelphia, so Students fromour school recieve a discount. I pain $375 for the course instead of $500.

I am wondering who else is taking Kaplan during this time. My class will start Jan7 and ends on Jan22. I already have access to my online resources. I am trying to get started today. Kaplan provides a nice syllabus and checklist for studying and I am gonna try to use it.

WHat's everyone else doing who has kaplan? are you gonna start with questions, or start with content. I am going to start with content, because I am weak in some areas. I am a pretty good test taker, but I would like to brush up on my content.

that's great! I paid $379 for mine, and they were very nice, I told them I was a nursing student (I was in my last week of school), and got the discount that way. My school wouldn't do that for us,they gave us HESI live review by evolve.

Some people didnt watch the videos and did not even read the course book..... and still passed the test. That is a chance that I was not willing to take so I did everything. Videos, book, questions untill I got them all right.

I watched the videos while I had the book open, that took about a week, then I read the book on it's own without the videos a few times, and also I watched the pharm videos a few times because that is my weak area, and my Qbank scores improve a whole lot.
I am a pretty good test taker, but I would like to brush up on my content. that is great! you gotta do what you gotta do

kaplan is great if you take advantage of it. One girl I know who did not pass, told me "I am gonna keep on studying kaplan because I did not finish it before I took the test, I am gonna watch the videos and read the book like I should have done the first time around" (HONEST, that is what she told me).

my advice to everyone taking kaplan, or any other course, do everything that comes witht the course. and if you need to change your date, then by means so, change it.

work on your content first.. i suggest that after every topic like safety & infection control.. you can make use of the qbank and try 50 questions from that topic. content is very important so start with that then when you finshed everything, just answer lots & lots of test questions. goodluck & Godbless!

i had kaplan complete review as well last month. i started with all of the content first and did a couple of videos. Most importantly, i did all of the questions that came with the review AND reviewed all of them, even the ones i had right. Knowing the rationale is key. Good luck with your studies and soon you'll be an RN!

im doomed! i just did one of the question trainers and scored only 61%. to make it worse, the text was mainly knowledge and comprehension!!!! I guess I really need to review my content....

I'm doing Kaplan now. Our school organizes for us to take it at the school. I'm trying to look through the whole book and answer questions. Even though it's hard to wade through all the content, I have a feeling I'll be prepared. I'm going to take the NCLEX a few days after the review is done while the stuff is still fresh in my mind.

I know what you mean, that was my feeling too, initially. But it's really about strategy. I'm finding the decision tree really useful in answering the questions, and remember the Kaplan benchmark on their trainers is 65%, so 61% is not a bad place to start. Keep doing questions and looking at the content, and also using the strategies.

don't be discouraged..it's just the start. i got 63% on qt1. your score is not bad at all. just try to brush up on the most important topics. as you go on answering test questions you'll see the improvement on your scores. use the strategies, it's helpful. goodluck to you!

thanks guys! you all are great. i am finding it really helpful to review the rationales. i am using the decision tree also when answering questions. i listen to the videos every now and then. i looked over the course book too. but doing all this, i am starting to realize that I need to jsut answer questions and review rationales. i feel like i am trying to stuff my brain while trying to "relearn" content.....

arrrrgghhhh1!

i took another test from kaplan qbank. this one was a "sample NCLEX", 50 questions, 35minutes. only 61%!!!

this is ridiculos. granted, i was doing the test with the tv on.....

i hope my scores get better soon
