What are priority questions??

Ok...this may seem like a silly question. I have seen on many threads of people who have taken the NCLEX RN that they had many priority questions? Does this type of questions involve putting a couple of answers in order according to their priority or is it just a multiple choice type question. I hope this makes sense, thanks.

Re: What are priority questions??

Questions that require you to prioitize...

Such as: you come on to your shift and get report on these 5 patients, which one do you go in and see first. (identify which one has the most immediate needs).

Or you need to complete this procedure: in which order do you do the following steps.

or you have identified 5 needs (nursing dx) of the patient, which need should be addressed first.

They are considered at a high level of difficulty on the NCLEX exam.

Re: What are priority questions??

I believe they also are considered the "disaster preparedness" questions, such as "Who do you help first?" 1. Little boy who is blue/white and has dried blood
2. Man who is bleeding profusely from an arterial wound 3. Woman who has an obviously fx'ed clavicle.

Answer would be 2. The little boy is gone, beyond our reach of resuscitation, and the woman can obviously wait.

Questions like these.

BTW, I just made these up, they didn't come from the NCLEX.
