US State for first time nclex taker?

hi everyone!

im new to the board and i must say that i have learned a LOT...however, i have not come across the info that i was looking for or maybe i have not read everything yet...anyway, i just want to ask which state is best for a first time nclex taker considering the immediate response and processing? i have no state in mind to go to yet, so i am open to anything.
also, i want to know how true is the info i have heard that nclex takers in california have far more difficulty passing the exam as compared to those taking it in other states? they say the exam itself is the same as in any other state, but the possibility of passing is much slimmer. does this mean that california has a higher standard as compared to others?

Few things to clear up first.

The NCLEX is a national exam and makes no difference to which state you take it it is the same.

You are applying for RN licensure and NCLEX is just part of that process. I would suggest reading the International forum especially threads on retrogression and Primer to working in the US. Currently you are affected by retrogression and there is no quick way to move to the US. You need to decide on where you want to live as no matter which state you make your initial application when endorsing you need to meet requirements for foreign trained nurse. Better for initial application to go to state you want to work in. Also point out with retrogression many employers are delaying taking on foreign trained nurses until they know what is happening.

So welcome to the site and check out the international forum which can be found using the local tab near the top of the page
