Took the NCLEX-PN Yesterday... I think I'm going to puke.

Hey there everyone! I'm going to come right out and say it, I'm a lurker. But just reading everything you all have been through is making this torturous wait a little easier.

My grandfather passed away. His funeral was scheduled for the day of my boards and my family insisted that I not reschedule... just get it out of the way... I went along with it, but WOW, did I regret it.

I sat to take the bloody thing... I remember staring at the computer in utter disbelief. Where the hell were these questions coming from?!

None of my studying prepared me... my post-op questions were all these weirdo procedures I'm never heard of... The medication questions were ridiculous... I swear I had at least 15 of them!!! I wasn't familiar with most of them either.

No math.

One cultural (Muslim) ~ which I got right, completely by chance.

Once I hit 60 questions, I was like... I can DO 200 questions... just don't let this thing stop me at 85!!!!!!!

Fifteen questions later I was done... Approximately 45 minutes in the hot-seat. I walked out completely dazed. Then I cried like a little girl.

I haven't heard of a lot of people failing with the minimum number of questions... so I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

I should hear in a day or two.

I admire your bravery. The NCLEX is hard enough - I can't imagine trying to tackle it while dealing with a death in the family. Best of luck on your results. Let us know what happens. Many people are pleasantly surprised.

Welcome to nursing, you can lurk, as long as you don't turn into a TROLL. The best of luck to you, and my condolences for your loss. You seem to do well under stress, and it will serve you well in nursing.

Re: Took the NCLEX-PN Yesterday... I think I'm going to puke.

I felt the same way I sat for my NCLEX-PN. It also cut off at the mininimum # of questions on me. I nearly jumped out of my seat when it shut off on me. I was miserable until I heard if I passed or not, actually physically sick. I just knew that I either passed really good, or failed miserably. I thought, where are these questions coming from. Seemed like they were all on the things I just really felt like were my weak points in school, but here I am almost 2 years later. So, just relax, bet you did just fine. When you get word that you passed, you'll let out that long awaited breath. Got my fingers crossed for you, with a cup of water, a full pill cup, and a handful of breathing meds, trying to knock on a door, and someone paging me to the phone.
