Help!! Does anyone have any advise for taking the boards. i am scheduled for the 22nd of this month. I have been studying but it seems the more I study the more nervous I get. This will be the first time for taking any type of boards for me. Any suggestions?

I suggest you make an appointment for a massage and read your NCLEX flash cards while you get it!

Wow, this could have been me writing this post!! I'm taking my boards on the 22nd as well. Before I scheduled, I felt ready, but as soon as I hung up the phone, I felt like I didn't remember anything!!

Be confident! Focus on the first 75 questions (take up to 2 hrs. for these if you need it). Do NOTHING the day before and get your massage that day! Have someone drive you to the testing center if possible. Do the Kaplan tests because they are the most like the N-clex. Best of luck!

Yes but why would you want to put yourself through that time and time again when you can just study and pass the first time (no offense to those who didn't pass the first time but the above poster sounds silly). Often times, people have jobs waiting for them that they will have to put on hold if they don't pass the first time, plus there is a 45 or 90 day waiting period between test sessions every time you don't pass, depending on your state. So most people are extremely stressed about passing the first time, with due cause

Most of the study guides are much harder than the NCLEX. I found the Kaplan study guide you can get at a bookstore for around $30 to be the best by far. The questions I had were very basic - only a few were hard. Get a good night's sleep the night before. Have a good breakfast. Drink coffee if you usually do, but don't drink so much caffeine that it makes you nervous. I wrote down notes on the very first question, as that question is close to the level of difficulty needed to pass. I did that in case I started getting nervous because of hard questions later, so I would have a reference for the needed level of difficulty to pass. Take your time when taking the test to be sure you understand the question being asked as it is very easy to misread/misunderstand when the pressure is on. I stretched a lot during the test to force myself to slow down.

I passed my boards!! I thought the 2 days of waiting for the results were the slowest I have ever experienced. I have 2 job interviews next week!!! I had someone drive me to test center and I took the afternoon before the test off to try and relax. I didn't get much sleep the night before as I was really nervous but I did it!!
