I am graduating this fall and then taking the state board exam. Scared to death. Everyone is talking about doing the Kaplan review to help them out. I am writing the boards in Florida....
Some reviews say that it is great and some say it did not help.. Has anyone taken the Kaplan review or any other review???

I took Kaplans...I liked it and the NCLEX questions were very similiar to Kaplans as far as how hard they are. I passed in 75 questions, they have a 95% pass rate and if you don't pass on your first try and did all they tell you to do they refund your money. I found it really helpful.

Use Suzanne 4's plan. I found it to be very user friendly and focused on "thinking like a nurse" in order to help a person pass.

One tip. Put your patient care hat on while answering questions.

I didn't do any formal reviews. I test pretty good and had already passed my LPN boards so I knew it wasn't a big deal. Yes you absolutely have to study and be prepared but really, think about how many nurses are out there practicing...the majority of people pass the first time. Don't let yourself get psyched out over this.

Marlene Hurst's review course is good also. Gives you priority and choose all that apply.

I took Kaplan and passed NCLEX this week. While I liked Kaplan and thought their strategies for answering questions was good, I really didn't use them on the exam. I would get a couple of good review books and just stick with those if I had to do it over again. I would have concentrated on those select all that apply questions a lot more too as I had WAY too many of those.

Best of luck to you, but you will be writing the NCLEX exam, which is national. The US has not offered state boards in years, and the nice thing now is that once you write and pass the NCLEX exam and keep a license current, you do not need to rewrite it ever again and the results are valid for all fifty states as well as US territories.

You do not need to upgrade membership (although you can if you want) but to send pm/emails you must have 15 posts to your name

To send a pm (once you can) just click on member's name and then the option to send pm in the drop down box
