studying for nclex lpn, afraid of failing

i see posts of people taking this test 4 and 5 times and finally passing or continue to fail. I'm so afraid I'll be one of those people. I did well in school and have been studying a little each day using the cd. but wow some of these questions are just unreal. What can I do to better prepare? this test is 200 dollars as it is. I've been looking for a job as a GPN but know if I fail that I would lose the job. I know I'll have to schedule the test soon before I start forgetting information. Any advice?

Re: studying for nclex lpn, afraid of failing

I'm awaiting my ATT, and it has been a full year since I was out of LPN school. I'm also afraid of failing, but I made myself a large note in read saying that I will pass the NCLEX-PN. I also read positive threads in here about passing to give me some courage..lol Try to have a mindset of a determined person. Don't doubt yourself and study as much as you can.

Good Luck on your nclex. I just took mine last week and did not feel prepared at all. My att arrived after three weeks and I scheduled to test that day I took it 4 days after receiving my att. I just went through nclex style questions from Kaplan and Saunders nclex books. If it is reassuring I am not a very good test taker and I passed it on the first try. My computer shut down at about 90 questions and it took me a little over an hour to take the test.

Good luck to you again

practice...practice...practice....ALWAYS... i believe reading is not enough. you have to practice yourself. evryday you must answer 200 question per day... for that you will be prepared to take the exam.it doesnt matter the points u get when u practice taking the exam. it matters of what you learned during the test taking strategy... it is kinda tiring but it works for me. i just take the nclex exam in one take only...

good luck to all of you

Re: studying for nclex lpn, afraid of failing

I wrote this before...relax, it does not help if you start panicing ...remember psych lecture...panic=unable to function . For myself I think "what is the woerst that can happen", NOBODY DIES, right.
I have taken a few test in the past years incl. LPN, NREMT-P, CCT and today RN. In addition english is my second language. If I would have paniced everytime I would had a MI or CVA by now .
Good luck

Re: studying for nclex lpn, afraid of failing

I took my LPN exam in 2004 1 month after I graduated and I had one week of vacation in Florida the same month. I passed the first try. I got the Mosby study guide and and Kaplan RN study guide. I did 100's of question until I started getting around in the 60's and up. By the time I did that I felt like I was ready. I felt like the LPn exam was based more on knowledge. I don;t remember having to think do I assess or implement like the RN exam is set up. I looked in my Mosby book the other day and went through some of the questions. They are so easy compared to the RN information. I know you can pass it. It's easy. Just continue to do lots of questions. I had alot of OB, how a pt walks with a cane or crutches, how a pt eyes would look if the we're on certain drugs like Morphine. Everybody's test is different though. I thought it was base mostly on knowledge.

Don't worry to much, I did not study much , tool the test was done in less than a hour and PASSED. So far everybody I know in my class passed with 75 to 85 question. How many people do you personly know whoo took it more than twice? Good luck.

i am studying the same exact books u did lol kaplan RN and mosbys PN. i found the kaplan harder than the mosbys because of the level RN to LPN. but now after studying for so long i got use to RN level questions . so i guess thats good but in nclex case it can be bad.because of the level of knowledge. thanks for ur encouragement.
