Exclamation Help! - Should I Reschedule???

Ok, I graduated May 14, 2008 from the ASN program. I started general orientation at the hospital I will be working at on June 2.....no patient care, it is all classroom stuff. That lasts until June 27. I just got my ATT yesterday and got way too excited and scheduled my test right away and scheduled it for June 26. Now today I am really freaked out and I am wondering if I should push it back. I haven't really been studying much...just doing some questions every now and then and I'm in orientation M-F from 8am-4:30pm...so time is a huge factor for me. I graduated with honors and as valedictorian of my class..I got mostly A's but some B's too. Everyone is telling me I will be fine...even if I didn't study I would pass...but I don't feel fine! I just need some advice...given my specific situation...would you reschedule for a later date if you were me? Please help!

Re: Should I Reschedule???

If you have not prepared at all, you would be better rescheduling this exam. Downside of taking it in two weeks without preparing is that you do not pass and then you are unable to continue with the job that you are in as you will also lose your GN status.

I know this is alot on your shoulders but you need to be very aware of what this means.

It will be great if you can pass it, but on the chance that you do not, then you are out of your job.

Re: Should I Reschedule???

Thank you for you reply Suzanne! I just rescheduled for July 14. That gives me over a month instead of two weeks and since I'm done with my orientation on the 27th, I will have 2 weeks to focus only on studying which I'm sure will make a huge difference. *sigh* I feel a little better now...still nervous, but not so pressed for time.

Re: Should I Reschedule???

I just took the NCLEX and passed 3 weeks after graduation. I only studied about 2 weeks. For me, the anxiety of waiting was a detriment and I knew that I needed to just be serious about it for a couple weeks and take it. I studied 2-3 hr a day most days (not all) for the last couple weeks. I did not take a review course but did over 3000 questions total. I also did all the questions in the Saunders blue review book.

Re: Should I Reschedule???

Thank you for your reply futurecnm! I do have the saunders book w/ the CD and I also just ordered the kaplan book today. I plan on using those two. I started doing questions yesterday and plan on doing 50-100 during the week and more on the weekends (200+) and also reviewing certain areas I feel weak in. My test is now July 14th so I have over a month. I acutally feel less anxious now that I know I have more time to prepare. I didn't feel like I could do it in only 2 weeks....the thought of that just sent me into a panic! Congrats on passing...I hope I will too

Yes for the PN and also RN I tested 3 weeks after graduation but did study at least an hour each day. Didn't want to wait any longer especially this time around as my pay increase by $15 an hour! Good luck.
