Question to all who taken Nclex recently

I was wondering if you could post which publisher (ex: Saunders, Mosby, Kaplan, etc.) is MOST LIKE the questions you had on the Nclex, I am doing the Saunder's CD's, and I want to make sure that I don't walk into my Nclex exam and start hyperventilating at question 1.

Thanks.

Re: Question to all who taken Nclex recently

It is true, none of the books are actually like the test. This is just my personal opinion: the NCLEX is testing your critical thinking skills. As a nurse there are always basic things you need to know. BUT you also need to use your critical thinking skills. Being able to assess and priotitize is a major part of being a nurse, and this is what I feel the NCLEX is testing you on. I found the ATI tests were the most helpful in preparing me for the exam because they focused on critical thinking, Good luck to you!!!

Re: Question to all who taken Nclex recently

I was told that some questions from saunders was on the exam. BUT as for me...........I have never seen any of those questions or topics,,,,,,,,,,,,and I studied all the q&a book. That exam blew me away. When I was studying.........I found out my weak spots and I read up extra on those. But the exam asked me things I knew.........but HOW they asked them and the choices were setting me up. I was really going through slow and paying real attention..........but after 150 questions..........I was too upset and I was too frustrated to even THINK. I already knew I was failing and I think I really failed because I gave up. I would have NEVER EVER studied some of those things I saw. Some of those disorders I cant even recall because I NEVER HEARD OF THEM!!
So now that I am doing it again..............all I can say is I know I cant study for this exam ( I will try because what else is there to do?) But I know I CANT really study...............if you know 100 disorders and lab results..........they will find the ONE you dont know and just frig you up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND THE WHOLE TEST IS LIKE THAT. Or............how they ask it or the choices will mess you up. Anyway my advice ( ok Im dumb but I will give some anyway)
1. Dont set yourself up to fail. Plan to do 265 questions.
2. Plan to be there 6 hours ( and dont worry that your breast is springing and your baby must be hungry and is the hubby panicking ? because I told him I might only take 3 hours the most........(YES I THOUGHT I WAS THAT GOOD)
3.Know that you wont know ANYTHING they ask you..........so dont feel too dumb...........its like that for everyone.
4. take your breaks............because your brain will get frustrated at some point and when it does.........2+ 2 wont make sense . So guard against this and break often.
5. I kinda sound like I know what Im doing hey?
6. Dont tell anyone you are taking the test until you did and pass...........cause you feel extra stupid having to tell everyone you failed.
7. Dont give up in the exam like I did.............the fact that you still was being given questions is because you werent failing it .............the more you get.............the more you have to pay attention ( why someone couldnt be there to encourage me? I wasnt thinking this way in the exam. I was negative. But I think I was passing until I gave up mentally.
8. If the questions are HARD............dont get upset.....say to yourself GOOD!......because when they are easy..........you are not doing too well. When they are hard ........you are on the right track,

Re: Question to all who taken Nclex recently

I agree that alot of the diseases i was asked about I had never heard of, but again, if you use your critical thinking you CAN figure out the answer. You may have to go all the way back to A&P and really think about things, that is where the basic knowledge comes in....know your A&P, know your nutrition etc and chances are you can come up with the right answer!!
Be positive!! I was SURE i had failed because the diseases I had questions about I had never heard of, the pharm questions were on drugs that I never heard of, but take your time and think it through....I went back to my A&P A LOT during the exam, it can work, i passed with 85 questions the first time. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! Be confident!!

Ok I checked my results and it says " pass"................thats unbelievable. I still feel dumb. That exam is very odd. Pass means I dont have to take it again right? Cause I cant go through that again!!!!
