Question about Kaplan trainer CD

I took the 1st test on it....and I stink! I only scored 55%. I have been doing Saunders.....I do great on those questions. But since most of you agree Kaplan is very much like the Nclex....I wanted to practice w/it. I take my Nclex Aug 22 am I doomed? For some reason every time I start to practice questions, my husband wants to talk to me! I am trying to figure out if its his fault or mine for the lousy score! Geezh I feel dumb!

Re: Question about Kaplan trainer CD

When I first started doing Kaplan I was scoring in the 50's too. About 3 weeks before my exam, I started doing more questions every day and my scores went up into the 60's and 70's even! Just practice, go over every single question's rationale, and I think that will help you. I did 100 questions the day before even though everyone said not to. However, for me, if I skipped a day of practice my scores ALWAYS went down. I passed with 75 questions, but I will just never know if doing those 100 questions the day before helped. All I know is that my NCLEX was just like Kaplan, font and everything. Good luck!!

Re: Question about Kaplan trainer CD

Thanks so much. I dreamed last night I failed!!! I woke up crying.....that was a bad feeling. The closer my test date gets...the more I worry. I know, I know this stuff! I feel like one of the three little pigs, with the big bad wolf knocking on the door

Re: Question about Kaplan trainer CD

I used Kaplan, Saunders, ..anything I could get my hands on. The instructors at the school I went to made up their own test questions SUPPOSEDLY using NCLEX format. The questions usually frustrated the heck out of me because they seemed so subjective. When I got to the NCLEX I felt like "OMG, I actually understand what they're asking here!!" LOL So use the resourse material...any and all...working on your rational thinking and question breakdown more so than "correct answers". That's what helped me, anyway.
Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK!!!!
Get a good night's rest, eat a good breakfast, take some earplugs so you can "zone yourself out" and DON'T look at how many questions your answering!!! Just keep goin' at it til the computer says "OK, 'nuff's enough'. Remember getting kicked off at the 75 question limit can mean 2 things!!!

Re: Question about Kaplan trainer CD

I agree with the second poster. As I completed Kaplan questions my scores got better. Just keep practicing. You said something about Kaplan CD? Where did you get that from? I only had the online questions. Can you buy a CD with Kaplan questions? Please post back.

Thumbs up Re: Question about Kaplan trainer CD

I bought this NCLEX simulator CD off of Ebay and it was great. There were comprehensive tests and specific tests that focused on each area. You could also just take random questions (as many as you want) and whenever you felt like stopping, it would give you your score. I liked it because I was able to focus on my weak areas, and there were so many questions that I didn't get repeats. Good Luck!!!

Re: Question about Kaplan trainer CD

I received it from Kaplan online. My services ended July 27th. I will try e-bay to see if I can buy it cheaper.

The more you answer Kaplan questions, the more you become a critical thinker. So keep chugging at it and take breaks.
