Unhappy Please help me!!!

Hi Guys!! I'm new to this website. Thought that I could get some help from u. I graduated in Dec 2006.I took my NCLEX-PN in Feb, but didnot pass. I just read only the Saunder's but it didnot help. To my surprise the test was really really hard.I cried a lot.I guess I got 200 questions. Most of them were on meds and priorities. We were not taught much about meds at all at school. Most of my friends passed but this is making me feel soooo....embarrasing...I really feel like crying. Please tell me what I need to study....Going through all the chapters again from school is really hard n I get confused. Please quickly respond to me.I really want to pass this test fast n go for RN. I read some of the reviews and found out that Kaplan might help. But I guess itz same as Saunders. I really realllyyyy.....want to pass this test for sure this time. I don't want to re-take it again. I want this to B my final test. Plz give me some suggestions/tips. One of my frinends told me to work only on the Saunders CD. So I'm planning on it. "Please please please HELP".

Re: Please help me!!!

am waiting for results, i can say the test was hard. to my experience Kaplan questions are more toward critical thinking, and the nclex questions have to use critical thinking.

I know it is easier said than done...but try to keep your head up and refocus..

Try Suzanne's plan:

I heard it works wonders.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Please help me!!!

Thankq so much guys for the quick responses. I'll do my best this time. I have an other question: how many times can u take the NCLEX-PN test or is there a limit for taking it?? And regarding the meds, I'm so worried b'coz I'm nil coming to its knowledge. How do I know about the meds that v get on the test. Going thru the whole drug book is soooo....difficult. Please lemme know. And can I do RN pre-reqs eventhough I didnot pass the test??

First off, TAKE A DEEP BREATH it'll be o.k! For now try to see where u went wrong. NCLEX is alot of priority and med questions, like u said. Go over priority questions and learn to figure out what the question is REALLY asking, NCLEX is tricky !Go over your meds especially in groups like CV drugs, RESP drugs and other more popular drugs or drugs for COMMON diseases. I know they asked me alot about ED drugs, the ones u see on commercials. I took an NCLEX-PN review course, it was a week long and it was $400, but it helped. Kaplan's website has a review course on-line and most importantly, FOCUS on what the question is REALLY asking you and connect it to what u know about each disease, med etc... remember ABC's and safety (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) then safety but say if someone is bleeding to death u would stop the bleeding 1st before u address their breathing. TAKE YOUR TIME, STUDY DEEP AND HARD SO U WON'T HAVE TO RETAKE IT FOR A 3RD AND U WILL PASS!

Re: Please help me!!!

Each state is different. I think you should call your state board of nursing to ask how many times can you sit for NCLEX-PN. I think NY lets you take it as many times as it takes, others state that you have to then take some sort of review exam...but am not sure. Also, you can choose what books works best for you. For me, Saunders was to cumbersome, had too much information and was overwhelming. It helped for school, but (for me) didn't help for NCLEX. I definitely say to keep answering questions and maybe have one focus a week e.g....1st week med-surg, 2nd, maternal child, etc. Best wishes to you!

Re: Please help me!!!

I THINK MOST OF THE STATE YOU CAN TAKE IT EVERY 3MONTHS AND THAT'S THE STANDARD. OR IF YOU WANT TO BE SURE CHECK ON THERE BON WEBSITE. MY BEST ADVISE TO YOU TRY TO FOCUS ON YOUR REVEIW AND DO ALOT OF PRACTICE LIKE questions and answers reveiw test and make sure you read the rationale too. Once again nclex is very tricky and be carefull what you reading. TRY TO PRACTICE IN THE COMPUTER IF YOU HAVE ONE. I FOUND OUT VERY HELPFUL .LESS ANXIETY ATTACK AND MORE COMFIDENT WHEN YOU TAKE YOUR TEST.
C
