Question? - Passing NCLEX and employers

Good evening to all of you I'm new to the website and had a question. Do you think employers look at how many times someone has taken the boards before passing to decide if they are good RN's to hire....Just a question I had a debate about it with a friend. Just wanted to know everyones opinion here. Thanks

They are concerned that you have a license in hand, and nothing more than that. Your license does not state how many times that you have tested or anything else about the exam.

you meant to say that, they, the empolyers, are only concerned if you have a license and that they don't care how many times you have taken the nclex.

Re: Passing NCLEX and employers

so does that mean potential employers have no means of finding out how many times you've taken the exam?

I don't think they do; when you verify someone's license on line, the site just tells you the person is licensed or isn't. Of course, there's nothing to prevent a potential employer from looking at the date of your graduation from school and the date your license was issued and wondering, or drawing conclusions. If there's an unusually long span of time in between, one might get asked about that in an interview.

In my experience, though, as others have said, employers just care that you are licensed.

Re: Passing NCLEX and employers

Thanks for the responses. I myself didn't think a nurse manager cared how many times a RN took the boards as long as she has a licenses in had she/he has proven to be competent enough to provide safe nursing care according to the the board of nursing.

I myself have taken the boards once and failed and in the process of studying to retest. Hope this didn't discourage anyone that has not been successful. Just keep studying and putting god first and all things are possible, ESPECIALLY PASSING THE NCLEX.

I meant what I wrote and the question was pertaining to employers and the number of times that someone has tested.

There was no reason to mention employers again if that is what the question was about.

Re: Passing NCLEX and employers

I know in my state up until last year you could see on the states site how many times someone attempted to take nclex . If you failed there was the word denied behind your name. If you passed, there was a lic number.
The denieds never went away either. You could have denied denied pass.
Unfortunately a bad hobby of many staff nurses was to pull up others names to see if their was a lic number or to see if there were the words denied behind their name.

I knew a certain nurse failed 8x before ever even meeting her as that was one name people liked to look up.

Now in my state if you fail your test your name just disappears.
