Passed the NCLEX at 75..so sure I failed!

Just a note of encouragement for all you graduate nurses out there! I took my NCLEX this past Thursday and it took me 2 hours and 45 minutes to do 75 questions. Right around question 50 I began to have a major panic attack and I really don't remember much after that. When the computer shut off at 75, I just stared blankly at the screen hoping that it might give me a few more questions. I got home and tried to frantically look up SOME of the questions I remembered and sadly, I think I got those wrong. I was absolutely convinced I failed. I graduated with honors from a leading university and consider myself relatively smart! I had already prepared my friends, classmates and family members for my failure. Today, I wept as I read the quick results. I passed. I am convinced, like some of you, that our "educated guesses" truly are better than the average non-nursing person and that we may think we don't know the answers, but we do down deep. So, good luck to all of you. Believe in yourself! You really do know more than you think!

Re: Passed the NCLEX at 75..so sure I failed!

Hi everyone-
I took my boards for the NCLEX on Wednesday and the computer shut off around 85 questions. I have been freaking out because i feel like i failed, i left the test center crying. I felt like i guessed on most of the questions, i thought i was prepared, but nothing could have prepared me for that!! Does anyone know the everage number of days that it takes to get those numbers next to your name on your states website?? This waiting is killing me?! please let me know, thanks

I took it last Thursday, shut down at 75 and, don't know if I passed yet (waiting like everybody else) but ...

IMO, the exam was very close to Kaplan questions. After using Saunders, Davis, Mosby and Lippincott I feel Kaplan was the best prep. In hindsight, I wish I had just done Kaplan from the start because, to me at least, the whole exam looked like Kaplan.

As far as feeling clueless, I also feel that Kaplan is the best prep for that. Most of their questions are very difficult and basically teach you how to do educated guessing with a little more confidence.

Because of Kaplan, I didn't freak out as much because they sort of train you to expect not knowing everything right off the bat and, instead, figuring out how to best game the test.

I was also surprized to see a lot of Kaplan content on the exam that I didn't see in the other NCLEX guides. Some of the questions looked to me like they almost came straight out of Kaplan.

Re: Passed the NCLEX at 75..so sure I failed!

rn888-I used the Saunders Comprehensive book and just worked my way through it. I did notice that there is someone (Suzanne) who says that you should go through every chapter and answer the questions at the end and if you get 75% correct, move on to the next chapter. If not, then read the chapter. (Initially, don't read the chapter before you answer the questions) I think that would be a great start. I attended a Drexel review which had several test taking strategies, but I found on the actual NCLEX, that wasn't too helpful. I have also heard that any Kapplan resource is great. Good luck to you! Let us know how you do.

Re: Passed the NCLEX at 75..so sure I failed!

Hello, first time poster here! I have been lurking for a while reading study tips on these boards before I took my NCLEX on Feb 5....the exam cut off at 75 and I for SURE thought that I had failed miserably! I ended up passing and feeling very relieved, but I felt awful for that 2-day wait! I think everyone will feel pretty crappy after taking it, no matter how many questions they took, but as the original poster said, you really DO know more than you think!

Your name should be on the website but not always after 3 days can take longer and only if you have a SSN. No SSN means you will not see it on the site.
