Hi everyone,

I've been a nurse in Canada for 2 years. It took ages for me to get to write the NCLEX, and I studied a LOT for it (bought three books, read them all, took notes, made flashcards...I did everything_ I could think of). I just took the NCLEX today, and it shut off at 75. I was originally thinking it was a good thing, but now I feel so horrible-I am *sure* I failed. When I walked out of there i didn't know, but later I started thinking about it and i realize one question iI FOR SURE got wrong, and it's totally shaken my confidence. The worst part is...after studying this hard, I will have no idea what to do next.

Best of luck on your results. Let us know when you find out. More people pass than fail at the minimum usually. Statistically odds really are in your favor.

Thank you... I was hoping it would shut off at 75, I figured that statistically was good, like you said... Now I just feel horrible, though I just don't know.

I know how you feel. I had 75 on my exam and felt mixed about it. But I passed! And I'm sure you did too. Good luck!

Keep in mind the following things:

- While the number of questions does not predict the result, about 85% of first-time, US-educated candidates will pass the exam, regardless of the stopping point.

- The NCLEX is designed so that both passers and failers get about 50% right and 50% wrong. You almost certainly missed quite a bit more than one question, and it's nothing to get too concerned about. Consequently though, no one is ever sure of the result and many people who pass will feel horrible.

- Many of the questions are not scored.

Oh... I'm not sure what you mean by passers and failers getting 50% right and 50% wrong, EricEnfermero... Could you elaborate? Thanks!

If you get one right, the questions will get harder until you get one wrong, so you end up only having got half the questions correct, regardless of result. What determines pass/fail is the difficulty standard you are able to achieve.
