Question NCLEX Review Courses

Greetings,

I already have Kaplan's strategy book, and plan to get a few more to assist with practice NCLEX questions, just to drill myself sufficiently (will be graduating in May). But something that many of my classmates seem to ascribe to is taking these $300+ NCLEX review courses (not multiple times, mind you). I'm simply not sold on their necessity. I have been an A/B student for the duration of my nursing school on a grade scale of 92/82/72/fail. I am in a BSN program at a huge teaching hospital in the South Eastern US, but still... I do have my worries about the NCLEX, as I do not fancy myself as being a 'good test-taker'. In fact, I am usually one of the last few finished with exams... but I owe a lot of that to being a procrastinator (although I do not see myself procrastinating in the least with the NCLEX...).

So, have any of you done Kaplan or Hurst review courses and seen results that you feel you wouldn't have if you'd simply studied on your own?

I love these forums and sincerely appreciate all of your threads/posts. Reading about what many of you have gone through is inspirational and insightful.

Re: NCLEX Review Courses

I would not suggest Kaplan review - you allready have the strategy book...... I liked Hurst Review, however, I can't say I passed the NCLEX because of it. I benefited from their content in general. It was good to brush up.

Are you aware of whether or not the content of the Hurst review offered additional or more effective strategies? I agree, it seems common sense that the instructors probably go pretty much by the books published by the companies that they represent. Nevertheless, I'm inviting input by those who have been through it. Thank you for the reply.
