Question? - NCLEX Books to Study?

Hi,

I am new to the forum and I am so glad that I found it. I can't believe that I am actually thinking that the NCLEX is around the corner. I thought this nursing school would never end! I've been studying Saunders NCLEX book and have reviewed the posts on what other people prefer. It seems like quite a few people also prefer Saunders.

I was trying to find a specific thread on recommended study materials but couldn't find one under NCLEX Discussion. If there is such a thread, could someone please point me in the right direction? Otherwise, what other study materials proved helpful for people that were successful taking their NCLEX?

Thanks so much!

Wendy

Re: NCLEX Books to Study?

case in point... if you are 3 months from the date of your NCLEX exam, you can read a book for 2 months (saunders is good for this purpose)

but if you only have 1 month left, just answer questions that mimic the NCLEX style in the computers (i used mosby and kaplan trainer for this purpose)

relying solely on books doesn't get you closer to understanding rationales in actual questions... the reason for this is that nursing encompasses a wide range of topics and with the time/pressure factor, we can't really saturate our brains with that tons of information... there's always this tendency to forget...

answering questions on the other hand
provides our minds with stimulation that provokes critical thinking that we can't get by reading books alone...
