I PASSED! - my take on the NCLEX

hey u guys.. u prolly know me from some of the post ive had before and i just want to first of all thank everyone for their support and encouragement thru this whole ordeal..

heres what i had
75 qs total
13 SATA
6 math (harder than i expected)
around 10 drugs
the rest were prioritization, pt teaching, infection control
had a lot of DM qs but no other endocrine
no herbal meds

ok so my take on the NCLEX giant:

first of all i think its OVERRATED! i think that we make it a bigger monster than it really is when really its not all that bad.. i mean where else can u get a license after 75 qs right? its actually designed to help us pass.. its good to have a respect for the test but dont fear it, its really on our side

what i think about the questions:

i would say that they look exactly like kaplans question emphasis on exactly and actually i think they are easier than kaplan! coz on kaplan u get questions where all 4 choices could be the right, but in the nclex there is always 2 that is obviously wrong..

what did i feel after i left the testing center:

ok so first of all i was done in less than an hour so that kinda freaked me out, and to tell u the truth i was just numb at that point.. i didnt feel like i passed and i didnt feel like i failed either.. i was just NUMB.

what did i use to study:

i read probably 1/3 of the saunders book but was to lazy to finish it coz it was wayyyyy to detailed.. then for a while i was just doing questions from the saunders cd (did around 1000) then i got bored with that coz it was kinda easy i felt like i was missing something.. so thats when i decided to use kaplan qbank which i think is what really helped me out.. it makes u think like the nclex and thats whats important i think.

content or questions:

this is a hard question for me.. i think thats although practice qs are very important u still have to know ur basic content.. but i also believe that u shouldnt dwell of content either.. so i would say content= 40% Q's=60%

what i did while waiting for the result:

went to the georgia aquarium and had a nice dinner with my boyfriend hehe and i honestly didnt answer anyones call for 2 days.. i told them i would talk to them when i get my result so basically i secluded myself (well with my boyfriend ) i had fun

ok thats that, feel free to ask me any questions that u might have.. and lastly i just want to say thank you to my April Group Family
you guys are really awesome! ill never ever forget this group (how can i?) and ofcourse a shout out to
PICUmaleNurse who was very very supportive! thanks guys!! and ofcourse i dont think i couldve done any of this without God's grace.. He rocks!

Re: my take on the NCLEX

I'm doing Saunders RN 4th edition and scheduled to re-test May 12. Finished the book now doing the CD. I like the rationales but the questions seem easy and not too challenging. Kaplan is out of the question due to funds. Any advice? I do agree with you about the NCLEX being over rated. Everyone gets so freaked out just thinking about it, me included. I just want to get this over with and get my life back. Thanks for your comments.

well if u really cant affored kaplan then i guess just stick to saunders or maybe u can try NCSBN coz they have harder questions than sauders and its not that expensive.. but the downside is the rationales are not that great.. dont freak out ull do fine

What are the important things to study about infection control? thanks!
