I take my NCLEX sept 30. For those of you who have taken it-how similar to the study cd's we get with our NCLEX books to the actual NCLEX test? is the wording similar? Are they the same calibur as far as difficulty? Would you say if you do well on the cd tests that you'd probably do well on boards? I know there is no way for sure to know that bc it is a throw of the dice as to the questions you get, but ya know what I am getting at?? Also, if you did well on your Assess test is that a good indicator?

I been reading the NCLEX boards here in allnurses.com for about 3 months..The majority of members would chose the study guides of Saunders NCLEX PN and Kaplan NCLEX PN..People used Saunders for content..Kaplan shows you strategies..

The majority of members rate these two books very high in their usefulness in passing the NCLEX..I am taking NCLEX in a week and have been studying these two books which the members here recommended..

I followed Suzanne 4's study plan using Saunders.....then I did more q's using Kaplan Trainer CD. Kaplan was very similar in style & wording to actual Nclex ( in my opinion). I passed w/75 q's. Good Luck!
BTW I hit the priority, infection control, delegation pretty hard.

Thank you for the input. I am probably not going to buy another book. I don't study that much as it is and honestly won't. Just curious as to how the boards look and so forth. Our school prepped us pretty hard for our boards. I have noticed that it doesn't seem like many schools really do that and that many of you had to go to reviews elsewhere. Anyway, thanks again!!!

how about lippincot nclex 3500? i've read saunder and kaplan and i find lippincot q's harder

I find Lippincott's 3500 horrible! The only reason I am using it is because my school requires it. There are numerous content errors (TONS!) and technical problems (saving tests, the program freezing up, marking correct answers incorrect).

A Lippincott rep is coming out to meet with my classmates because we're so annoyed with the disk.

I highly suggest Saunder's comprehensive and Saunder's Q&A. There is a cd that comes along with it. Really helpful. Then do Kaplan question trainer 6 & 7 only. That would be the closes to Nclex. In my experience I utlized the content of Saunder's and Kaplan for critical thinking. I felt confident. takenotes and read it over. Understand every rationale. Make sure you know each content, EX. Peds, OB etc...cuz once you don't answer them right they keep throwing at you. And another thing, NCLEX likes to ask a lot of priority questions such as who would you see first, you have 4 phone messages, who would you call first? If one of the choices are "CHRONIC COPD" not the answer cuz remember these patients has long term disease therefore thay would not be the first person you see or call. Kaplan taught me that. If they ask you anything on OB position, it is always left side lying unless the patient has a prolapse cord or you can put them on trelendenberg position. Hope it helps.....good luck

where do you get the kaplan question trainer 6 and 7? Off of their website? They have so many options for different nclex preperations programs on the kaplan website it gives me a headache thinking about it!
