Sorry to hear this. I would seriously take a short break from studying and then look at Suzanne's plan. Many have passed with it especially ones who have failed a couple of times or more.

Re: I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(

zelda jane,

i am sorry to hear that you didnt pass. i know how it feels since i have gone through the emotions.

we all know that we can take the nclex over again. however, it is painful and very difficult for your self esteem and morale to do all that you can and still not succeed. i alway sought comfort by knowing that i have other chances and also that i have supportive people around me.

i say go through all the emotions, deny, anger, cry, depressed, and then think rationally and set aside some time for yourself. Create a plan of action, for instance i pulled out my calandar and scheduled all day study days and i also scheduled some going out days and beach days. the time off will help you relax and get your mind off of studying which plays a big part in being sane.

Good luck on your next nclex.

Thumbs up Re: I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(

In every frustration there is a powerful message. Frustration tells you, in no uncertain terms, that something is not as good as it could possibly be.

There's a reason for every frustration. And when you choose to be brutally honest with yourself, there's also a positive and potentially life-changing response.

The best response to frustration is not to fight it or resent it or let it break you down, but to learn from it. Perhaps frustration is attempting to convince you of the need to speak out against injustice, or pointing out changes that you know you must make in your own behavior.

Frustration may very well be telling you that what you're doing at the moment is not at all in line with your most deeply held values. Frustration may be your way of telling yourself that you need to more fully prepare for life's various challenges.

It could be that frustration is helping you to realize that there must be a more effective, more efficient, more compassionate, or more sensible way to do some particular thing. Many great achievements and advances start out as frustrations.

Feel the frustration, and then listen very carefully. For that frustration is giving you some priceless advice.

Re: I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(

Did you check the sticky on Suzanne's Plan? I know she has helped many people pass who had failed several times already. Suzanne is strict about the requirements and you'll need at least 45 days after you complete the first tip.... but here, read about it yourself:

Best of luck! Please don't give up!

Re: I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(

Hi there,
I was not the good student back in the nursing school and i think im the dumbest one of all actually, yet i still pass the second time. And i remember the hard time i had to go thru, so, i know exactly how u feel. Girl. listen...im pretty sure you have all the knowledge you need. but u definitely need the strategy to answer them correctly. After i failed for the first time, i studied my butt off and i took the Kaplan class too as well. They have very good review class in term of teaching you how to answer them strategically and the question banks are very useful...let me tell you how i succeed in the 2nd time round, i studied everyday..mostly practising questions from the Kaplan question banks, and also i used the Saunder's too...topics that i was weak at, i will use Saunders to review and if you were to take the Kaplan's review class, they will give you their textbook too as well..and that book is actually very good too. So, i would strongly advise you to consider that. Just give yourself another chance...you are close, considering you had 180 questions! Good luck!

Re: failed for the 4th time- nclex-rn

Zelda, it's okay... regroup and take a serious look at your safety in regards to the nclex. Delegation questions are always good to look over. Try to purchase a delegation/prioritzation book. Mosby makes one such book. It's full of "what would you do,who would you see first" questions. I sure do wish you luck,, don't give up you can make it!!!

I feel your frustration. I just found out that I failed the NCLEX-RN for the second time now. I answered all 265 questions and failed. Im about ready to lose it.

Re: I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(

NCLEX-Rn sucks--

..i really, really love your screen name !!!--as an avid , and well reknown 'NCLEX" and "CA BRN" hater myself--i have to tip my hat.

----DONT lose hope-just realize its not YOU its this dumb test. --consider yourself an RN already, you just have to answer X amount of questions.--

Dont let "them" win, i know its hard right now--I FINALLY passed last week on my 3rd time.-

trust me--all that anxiety, frustration, and sadness TRULEY does go away at a click of a mouse button when you enter your name and see it.

I wish you the best of luck

JON

Re: I took the NCLEX-RN for the fourth time :(

ZeldaJane, if you feel that you were prepared for the exam and yet failed again, you may have anxiety issues that are making it difficult to take the exam. In addition to studying for the exam, maybe take Yoga or meditation classes. After failing the exam the first time, I took a review course that included relaxation and meditation techniques. I did utilize breathing techniques during the exam and I feel it did help keep me composed during the test.
