I did not pass with 250 questions

I studied for 2 1/2 months almost every day with NCLEX 3500, a book that I bought with a cd, and the kaplan book. I felt that I paced myself very well, and I still did not pass. I am not a great standardized test taker, and also I did not get sleep the night before. I want to take the test ASAP, any suggestions for how to study for the next test?? I mean i reviewed a 1000 page book took 8 practice tests and did the nclex 3500. I feel that the questions were MUCH harder than what i was practicing with and walked out of there feeling like i knew nothing. I believe my job is going to be held for me. I am going to be working at Newton Wellesley Hospital.... i have to contact them tomorrow. I am somwhat embarrassed but I know that I will be a great nurse as soon as I start. I did well in school, and loved all my clinicals and internships. Please advise

Re: I did not pass with 250 questions

I am sooo sorry, but the good news you can do it again, unlike nursing school where you are booted out......I used kaplan for questions....and saunders is a great resource for content if unsure of an area.

you will do it next time...have faith

all the best

Re: I did not pass with 250 questions

I'm sorry you did'nt pass , but guess what? you will on the next go round. Study Saunders and do the cd, it has over 5000 questions. Also I did Kaplans, I didn't like it as much as Saunders but the question bank gave me more questions to go along with Saunders. I will say a prayer for you. Just remember you can do this. You made it out of Nursing school so that's a plus right there .

Re: I did not pass with 250 questions

Hey there! Keep your chin up, you're not alone! I failed mine on my first try and am waiting the required 45 days until I can take it again (August 15th cannot come soon enough!)

There are several different things you can try when studying to retake the NCLEX: Susanne's plan is supposedly very good (it's a sticky at the top of the NCLEX forum) and uses Saunders, take a Kaplan review course ($$$) or do learning extension. That's what I'm doing right now and it's great! Comes directly from the board of nursing and I swear the questions on the practice exams seem to be the most like the actual NCLEX. It's http://www.learningext.com Good luck and keep us posted...you CAN do this! Just remember, we'll be better nurses because of this and will appreciate passing that darn test all the more!

Re: I did not pass with 250 questions

i did not pass either, and calling work was hard, but so many people there also failed, i went in to see all my co-workers and people i never knew failed had told me how htey failed once, twice and one nurse told me three times. it made me feel better knowing others failed to, others that i knew and recognized as amazing nurses.

you will pass, and you will be a great nurse. hopefully it only takes one more time for both of us!! hang in there!

Re: I did not pass with 250 questions

I'm sorry you did not pass. I would suggest an online review (Kaplan/College Network) that lets you ID your weaknesses. Saunders is great for content.

I don't know yet if I passed, but just pick up the pieces and move on. Keep studying, so you won't lose information.

Re: I did not pass with 250 questions

sorry you didn't pass.

Why not try and do some questions in exam conditions and see how you do, plenty of practice for the real thing which may help your nerves. ie set a time, make sure you get no distractions (turn phone off) give yourself a time limit and do the questions and then review after and concentrate on the ones you got wrong and understand the rationale
