Exclamation Vent!! - HELP!!! Taking NCLEX in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

I graduated from nursing school a month ago. I just received my ATT and scheduled to test in June 9! Since graduation, I've been practicing 100-150q's a day on my own from Saunder's 3rd & 4th ed, Kaplan Strategies book/cd, NCLEX 3500 and Kaplan Qbanks. The thing is that when I do questions from Kaplan Qbanks, I usually score in the 50's-60's but in Saunder's I always get above 70's. It's weird. Am I ready for this????????????? I don't know what to think anymore. I should be done practicing an overall of 3500 practice questions before taking the NCLEX.

Re: HELP!!! Taking NCLEX in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

It took me sometime to organize on how to study for nclex. I studied using Suzanne's plan and it's really great. it will take sometime but it's worth it. It's also free!(thanks Suzanne!). It's a very systematic way of studying and it works for me. If you can access at least do Kaplan Q-Trainers specially the rationale. It is somewhat similar to the actual test. I studied Pharma at least 2-3 hrs a day on my last week and make sure you read a lot about infection control/delegation and prioritization/ABC's and Maslow's (i used Saunders) as your last bits to refresh your memory.

Always visit this site coz this can be your friend, adviser and teacher. there's lots of tips on this site that you can gather.

Good luck on your exam...

Re: HELP!!! Taking NCLEX in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

try using suzzane's study pan. its in the sticky thread. I think its good. though, i havent tried it. but at least there would be someone who could guide you properly. as for me I havent done 3500 question before taking the exam its about 2k+ but not 3k+ i guess it really doesnt matter but on how you understand the rationale of each question both right and wrong. I too do not have high scores in kaplan but i made it in my exam.and regarding other cds like saunder's i usually answer 100 question every morning and put it in study mode so after i answer i could see if i got it right.

Re: HELP!!! Taking NCLEX in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

Thats sounds good Kaplan ? are harder then the NCLEX at least I thought so I was using Kaplan and ranged anywhere between 88% to 60%, I was like making 80% consistantly in the lippincott 8th edition. I practiced questions every day for months prior I onlyhad 75? and passed I found out today. I thought it would be alot harder but I guess all the studying really helped me Good Luck I think you will be fine.

Re: HELP!!! Taking NCLEX in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

Hi. I'm new to this thread, but I thought maybe someone could chime in about what I should do?

I am in a 2nd Degree BSN program over here, and I'm supposed to be taking our HESI exam to graduate end of June, and so far, my scores have been around 64% for the HESI sample/Silvestri NCLEX general review exams.

I've just finished my Spring Semester, and I think I've understood how I should study. I've been writing down the question/rationale on each question that I did for NCLEX or HESI for about an hour each day (that's about 15 questions) while trying to understand the rationale. Other times, I'm just trying to complete my homework and NCLEX questions. I've been averaging so far about 40/day. I didn't really do that well on my subject or MEd Surg HESI's. My scores have been 664 Med Surg and around the 600-700's for Peds/OB/Psych. I need an 850 to pass.

Can anyone give any other suggestion? I'm trying to understand my A/P more. Some of my teachers suggested I do that. Another suggested I do the 100 ques/day thing, but so far my scores of my practice tests have been in the 60's.

I think I've got a study plan down especially now that I have more time to concentrate on HESI/NCLEX. I'll concentrate mostly on reviewing at least 1-2 systems per week and also on the rationale of the questions I do per day.

Do you think that I'm doing the right thing in my study plan?

Thanks for any suggestions.
Ewok
