Got my ATT!!!

My test is scheduled for January 25th at 3:15. It was scary just hitting that confirm button. I'm very nervous. I am meeting my schoolmates tomorrow and we are going to swap NCLEX study books. I have Kaplan, one friend has Saunders, and one has NCLEX Made Incredibly Easy. Kaplan and Saunders have discs that we can swap. I don't need my disk to use it since it's uploaded on the computer and my friend said it's the same with Saunders.

I have been taking the Kaplan tests and am not really impressed with my scores. I took a pre-nclex exam at school and scored a 64%. National average is a 52% on that particular exam. Sooo, I thought I was ok. Well, on Kaplans I am scoring between a 63%-67%. From what I hear that is just not good enough. So many of the questions relate to things that we never studied such as different types of traction, using canes etc. Bring on the renin-angiotenstion system. I know I know....application.

So do I study my med surg book and take practice exams? AAAACCCKKKK!

Re: Got my ATT!!!

I should be getting my ATT any day now, and I am really getting the jitters. Did you select your own test date, or were you assigned one? I am hoping to schedule my exam around the first week in Feb., but no sooner, since I need the time to review. I am reviewing content by way of Saunders, and then practicing questions from the Kaplan and Saunders cd's, and possibly the NSCBN online. I guess I'll be hanging out here for the next couple of weeks. Really scared, but trying to just stay focused. (tachycardia, diaphoresis, nausea, diarrhea!)

Re: Got my ATT!!!

You first pick a site to take it, then a calendar pops up and you pick a day. Then it will tell you the available times for that day, if any. I had a choice between 0900 and 1515. I took the afternoon because I have kids to get to school and I don't want to be stressy. I am also a coffee addict and if I can't get my coffee in the morning I will end up with a migraine. But if I take it in the morning I will be obsessing over one more cup of coffee...or will that make me have to pee to much during the test.

Finally I said to myself...afternoon is best. Floors my husband that coffee was the final decision maker. Truth be told I took nursing classes at night so late afternoon is when I used to take all my other exams. Why mess with fate?

I decided to brush up on certain things like Celiac and Chest tubes...but the bulk will be answering questions and really paying attention to the rationalizations. I can't wait to look at Saunders since it's so well liked here.

Yikes...you can tell I am anxious...I'm typing a book here

Re: Got my ATT!!!

My state received it on Dec. 28th. So it was a very quick turn around. I actually don't mind studying for this. I try to think of it as a game. I have to admit that I can only study in one hour chunks otherwise my brain fries.

I got a 64% on my ERI. Is this really bad? I mean we took the test but didn't get any feedback minus the printout. I searched on this site and the only percentages that I could really find was someone mentioning that they needed a 65% to graduate. Sheesh. Does this mean I did that bad? It said that 52% was the national average.

But now is related to my physiological need or a physocosocial need.

Re: Got my ATT!!!

I am testing on the 20th! I tried moving to date up to something sooner.....like this coming weekend but they are booked. So, the daily Q&A will continue. It is all very maddening. On one hand I know that I know my stuff but on the other hand there is a chance of failure.

To keep my sanity I have to keep reminding myself that this (NCLEX) is what I have been preparing for. I know my stuff.

Is anyone else hoping to sleep after taking the test, and for the first time in a long time not have NCLEX type questions sneak into each and every dream? Please tell me I am not alone in this simple wish.

Re: Got my ATT!!!

Sleep? You mean a solid nights sleep? What the heck is that? I know the night I finally have RN behind my name I doubt I'll sleep..but after mmmmmmm. Yes. I'm hoping to finally be at peace after passing.
