Hello and welcome to allnurses.com

Good to have you with us.

I moved your post from an off-topic thread to its own thread in the NCLEX forum. There will be others who will come along to assist you.

Good luck with NCLEX and we hope you enjoy allnurses.com.

Re: give me a tip how you study smart

Hi,
I can only imagine how nerve wracking it is to re-take this test but I believe that attitude is a big part of success. It might sound corney but practice deep breathing and telling yourself that you are going to be a wonderful nurse, you have worked very hard to get here and you have the knowledge to pass this test! Say it over and over until you believe it.

The other thing I did when I was practicing questions was to do them so I immediately saw the answer and rationale, study mode on my cd. That way if I was guessing I could read and reinforce the answer. If there was a question where I had no clue I would make a note card with information to re-read. I also did note cards on the lab values, hypo and hyper signs and symptoms to study from. Best of luck. You can do this!!

Re: give me a tip how you study smart

All I did was practice questions. NCSBN, a few Kaplan and ATI assessments. I read lab values and isolation/infection stuff in Saunders and all this from 5/24 to my test on 6/18. Mind you I had a few days in there I DID NOTHING! mostly due to orientation at work.

Now if that was enough I will tell you tomorrow at 5pm.

Re: give me a tip how you study smart

I used ATI & Saunders 4th edition. The NCLEX had more of the ATI style questions, but the Saunders book did a far better job of explaining rationales....plus, you didn't have to hunt through ten books to find the answer that you were looking for. I passed with 75 questions.

Re: give me a tip how you study smart

I did the HURST program (which gives you an all over review & tips for questions) I knew that book very well, the labs, insulin chart, ect and then did 3,000 questions after that. Of course I did not feel prepared (I am not sure if you can ever feel prepared) and left thinking I had failed at 75. But, I passed!
