I'm so sorry. But keep your chin up!! You didnt work hard to give up now. I dont know what your money situation is..but if thats not an issue..I would sit down and think about the test. What do you think your strengths are and what do you think your weaknesses are. You have 45 days...you can do it again. When I took the test ...nclex-pn..I thought I had failed....I thought about what I would do differently......we all know how to take a test......did you get nervous during the test??.....I said to myself when I went in ..that I was not going to let the darn test get to me....because I knew I could take it again.....the thing is you now know what to expect...so ...take that advantage...and work with it....if you did get stressed during the test...do you feel like it hurt you??? ..if you do...then it may have been what cost you....I truly believe that because I would NOT let myself get nervous and stressed during the test...it is truly what helped me pass.......!! YOU CAN DO IT NEXT TIME!!!! THINK LIKE A NURSE!!! BE IN THE MOMENT OF THE QUESTION!!! AGAIN THINK LIKE A NURSE!!!! YOU WILL DO IT!!!!! I KNOW YOU CAN!!!!!!!!!

Well it looks like we are in the same boat my friend. I found out this morning also that I didn't pass. I was devestated for about an hour and then I just tried to start seeing the positive part of it. Apparently I need to study more, so that is what I will do. I will study so much and do so many questions that by the next time I take the exam, I'll leave there thinking "that test is in the bag. I just kicked that tests butt." (This is what i'm hoping for anyway) I just kept thinking all day, that it's not the end of the world. I'll do better next time. It definitely sucks though. Anyway, I hope you start to feel better. I still a bunch of people anxiously waiting to hear from me about my results that I haven't spoken to yet.
Do you know what happens now? When exactly we can take the test again and what we have to do to do so?

Hello genny, i am really sorry to hear that. but guess what, you are not alone. i understand how you are feeling except that when i took it the first time, i knew i was going to fail it because i wasnt ready what so ever. The only person that knew i was taking the test was my fiance.I was also ashamed to tell my family.
To be honest with you most of people who are not in the nursing program will not understand how difficult getting in the nursing program is or how difficult it is to stay in the program once you are in. And most importantly how difficult the NCLEX is. They think that becasue we studied nursing for 2-3yrs we should automatically pass this test. Only we know. So don't worry about what people think.
If you want, you can keep it to yourself. If you live in california, it takes 2days to 4wks till you get your results anyway. Or, you can just be honest with everyone, you are not alone in this and i am sure they will understand.
You will pass this test. Although you have 45 days to retake the test i would wait longer at least two months and really study. I would suggest you take a break for at least a week. Go somewhere, do something and don't think about the test. Stressing and being depressed will only make things worse. Try suzannes plan if you don't want to pay for prep courses. i heard its been very successful among students. i am currently doing her plan waiting for the second tip.
I wish you all the best. Take it easy and you will be fine.Just know that you are not alone. i hope i made you feel alittle better.

I am sorry to hear that too... I know how devestating that is.... Like Smake60 said we have to just move on and take advantage of the fact that we know the test environment and the types of questions to expect...
Well after crying for about 2 hours... I decided to reschedule the test... I called Pearson Vue first to reschdule the exam and had to repay the $200.00. Then I called Alabama Board of Nursing (which is a state that will allow you to retake the test in 45 days), I completed the form online and paid $85.00. In other words, I would start by calling Pearson Vue and rescheuling the test... afterwards I would call the Board of Nursing where you want to retake the test and fill out the paper work.... Then just wait for your ATT and start over
I guess there is no need in moping... Like my husband always says... it is not when you reach the finish line.... it is about weather you reached it at all.... so we didn't pass this time.... its OK..... as long as we pass eventually and become nurses that is all that matters!
We were smart enough to finish nursing school..... we are also smart enough to pass this exam... AND WE WILL

Ksas4ever, thanks for your encouragement..... I really appreciate it! YOU ARE RIGHT... my husband doesn't really understand the complexity of this whole thing.... he was so excited that I was taking the exam that he started telling everyone in his family ... THANK GOODNESS i never told anyone in my family or my friends.... I will definately keep it to myself unless they found out another way.... i know my school dean etc will find out soon but thats ok

..Yes..I know how you feel, I knew i failed weeks ago, and last week i got my Big envelope..(you can see my many threads)
at first i was content on giving up nursing all together, i figured "hey, i gave it my best shot (and i did), i had NO excuses (i wish i did) but i didnt, I studied great, did 100+ qquestions a day for over 3 months..my wife is an RN, i had great support----and i failed, So i said if i cant do this, it was not meant to be.
My friends and family urged me to test one more time, and i took some time off and im back to studying again
I ordered the 3 best most popular books people have been telling me to get
2 kaplans-"stragegies for the Nclex"--which is the best book i ever bought--it is soo helpful and identified WHY i was missing some questions, and those few questions perhaps put me under the line
and i bought the saunders comprehensive (for suzannes plan)
I have my re-test date for early march.
I wish my fellow "re-test" takers all the best.
