Anyone, please help me. Im new here. Just registered. I took NCLEX 2 times already but still i failed. I will be taking the 3rd - not yet scheduled it. Since im still in the depressed stage. Just received the news yesterday... Hope you can give me words of encouragement... I'm a Filipina nurse and i have registered in California.
1.My registration will be expiring in February2007. Do i need to re-apply again to register again? Since its so near already to expiring?

2.How many times can I take the exam in california? Is there a limit to the number of times that i can take the exam in california?

3.What method can I use to study? Im using a book by a local author "ABC of Passing NCLEX". I have a Saunder's book 3rd edition with CD, but I just recently bought it , since my friends say that its a very good book. But i don't know how to start.

Since im worried ,that my registration is near expiring already and i have to pass it. Since my finances is in the low right now. I cannot afford review centers here since its so expensive. Please help.

I would definitely just stick to Saunders. The co-moderator of this forum has a 6 week study plan using just Saunders Comprehensive review. You can PM Suzanne4 for more info. You have to follow the first tip first, on the sticky that says "First tip of my new study guide." After that, PM Suzanne and she will send you her plan via email. Good luck!

California is not recommended for initial licensure. When you pass NCLEX, they will not give you your license unless you provide them with an SSN. You cannot even endorse a "license" to another state because there is no license to begin with. Try applying to Vermont or New Mexico. They will issue your license even without an SSN. As soon as you get your license, just apply for endorsement to California.

To answer your questions:

1. I think when your registration expires next February, you have to register again. Check the Pearsonvue website or call them to be sure.

2. I'm not sure if there is a limit to the number of times you can retake. But I do know that you have to wait 90 days before you can sit for the exams again.

3.Saunder's 3rd edition is a very good reference. I used it as my main reviewer in preparing for the NCLEX. At the top of the NCLEX discussion forum, there is a sticky by this forum's moderator Suzanne entitiled "the first tip of my study guide." Follow that. Once your done, you have to PM her for the rest of her guide. It's free. Her plan has a very high passing rate.

Hi, just want to clarify things. When you say that in California even when you passed the NCLEX, they will not issue you the License if you don;t have the SSN. What do you mean by that? Im a filipino nurse here in London UK so just want to know what will happen if(fingers crossed) i will pass the NCLEX?

Instead of receiving my CA license, I received a letter stating that I passed the NCLEX and have to submit a valid US SSN to complete my licensure. It was also stated that I have 1 year to comply otherwise they will consider my application abandoned and files will be destroyed. Got mixed emotions when I received the letter. Imagine passing the nclex and not being able to get your license and files destroyed and all. Wow! Suzzane is right CA is not the best choice for initial licensure. If I should have known before.But anyway,I got my CA license card already.Time to renew( my 3rd time). Now endorsing to Florida. Planning to move there with my family hopefully in 2007.
