Does the last question determine your fate?

Just wondering... I know for a fact that I got the last question of the NCLEX right. And then the computer shut off at 114 questions.

The way I was thinking was.. if they bothered asking you that question then it must be needed in order to determine pass/fail. If I was in the below passing range... and they asked me that question and I got it right.. wouldn't they give me more chances to get above passing? And if I was in the below passing... why would they even bother asking me another question if I had already failed?

I'm just wishful thinking here..

Has anyone gotten the last question right and failed? Or gotten the last question wrong and passed?

Unfortunately, the last question myth is widely-believed but not of any use in predicting pass/fail.

Re: Does the last question determine your fate?

guys, I got 120 questions, I'm 98% convinced I failed. I got two knowledge level questions as the last ones, and I know I got them wrong. The one before that one, was a priority question which I probably got it wrong as well. what do you guys think?

I got 2 math questions, about 3-4 all that apply, a couple of questions of some meds that I had no idea, and priority questions...

Re: Does the last question determine your fate?

The only way to know is by the final result. Second guessing is impossible. That's the way it's designed. Odds are better for first time takers but that's about it. Number of questions, last one right or wrong means nothing.

I think you have to get the last one right in order to pass... otherwise they would ask you more questions or they would not have bothered asking you the last question if you were so far deep in the hole that there was no getting out. But if ther was a chance you would get out of the hole then they would have kept asking you more questions.

Thats the way I Look at it.

As posted above, getting the last question right/wrong is just a myth.

No it doesn't matter. I know for a fact I got the last two of my questions wrong on NCLEX.. I found out today I passed with 75 questions!
