You know the material or you would not have graduated. Practice a few minutes daily on the questions to be familiar with the language and stay in that frame of mind. Do NOT go with a friend to test. One of you will finish first and the other will feel anxious about taking too long. Eat protein the meal before the test. Plan something fun to do afterwards. You deserve some time off!

Wishing you the best ..be positive and believe you will pass. I am waiting for my ATT, so I haven't been there yet perhaps someone else will have good suggestions.

Re: About To Take The Nclex

Eat a double whopper an hour before you take it. That's what I did. I passed.

Oh, and don't stress too much. Go over your NCLEX review book over the next 4 days. You're not going to be able to learn much over the next 4 days if you haven't learned it already. Trust me on this one. If you're ready, you're ready. If you're not, you're not.

Here is my exact quote to the person I met in the waiting room as I walked out of the NCLEX, she was reading a med-surg book..."Throw it in the trash...forget about it..."

Then I went crosseyed on the drive home.

I'm pretty sure I scored lower than that, to be honest. I passed the nclex in 85 questions. You can't really compare saunders to the actual NCLEX exam. The NCLEX is in a league of its own. If I can sum the NCLEX up in a word, it would probably be "nonsense." Not in the way of meaning "stupid" but in the sense that it is just...crazy...Saunders is too black and white to really compare to the NCLEX.

In four days, you'll know what I mean by that description.

Re: About To Take The Nclex

You'll do just fine on the NCLEX. A little being nervous is good too! Like some others have said, eat a good, light meal about an hour before you take the test. I believe in caffeine before an exam, but some don't tolerate it as well as others.

I really knew my meds and lab values. There are probably going to be a lot of priority questions, too. Also, like others have said, don't overstudy. You know your material. Don't let nerves get in the way. I really recommend going by yourself. Leave plenty early, so you won't be rushing to make it there on time. Take lots of slow, deep breaths, and take plenty of time answering your questions.

Take a light sweater or jacket. You want to be comfortable. Yeah, right! Go to bed early the night before the exam-if you can sleep at all!!

Good luck to you, future nurse. I know you can do it!

Re: About To Take The Nclex

You must remember that the nclex exam is structured under the premise of it's a perfect world. That means all your equipment is functioning properly and available, you are at a reasonable safe staffing level and none of your other patients are crashing at that moment. I guess maybe you could also call that a "textbook world."

Know the therapeutic levels of dig and dilantin to name a few.

Best of luck to all of you.
