85% pass the first time that they test

85% pass the first time that they test. So the odds are definitely in your favor that you will pass.

Almost everyone that posts here thinks that they did not pass the exam and are ready to start preparing immediately once again. Never assume that you did not pass until you actually get your results, most are pleasantly surprised.

All get 50% correct and 50% incorrect, it is the level that the majority of the correct questions are answered in that determines if you passed or not. This is taking it at its simplest form but the easiest to understand.

Whether one gets the last question right or wrong has no bearing on the results, and the number of questions does not tell if you passed or did not pass. SATA questions are only a format style, they do not determine the level of the question.

Best of luck to all of you that are waiting for results.

So, SATA questions aren't automatically considered one of the "harder" questions?

The percentage for foreign trained nurses drops to about 45%, I feel this is mainly due to the fact US schools will gear up to their exam whilst other countries have different exams and will gear up for theirs

I agree with you! As i have read in the forums here, some schools there in the USA have already partnered with some review centers months before graduation in preparation for the nclex exam. In contrast, here in our country our schools too have partnered with review centers to gear up with the local board exams

There is also a significant difference in vocabulary as well as lab values and medications that automatically make it harder for a nurse that has trained in another country; let alone not be familiar with the same assessment skills that are used here as well.

That is why it usually takes a nurse that has trained in another country longer to prepare for the US exam.

And on another note, I have seen quite a few foreign nurses sign up to sit for the NCLEX exam when their English skills are not nearly as good as they should be before attempting the exam and it sets them up for failure as well.

Re: 85% pass the first time that they test

hey guys

yes, I am foreign educated nurse. Had NCLEX yesterday. It wasnt the language problem in my case. I am just suprised how much knowledge american nurse has to have...
these questions were crushing, many of them had anything to do with the tones of books that I have.Even one last question was about something that I checked today and there is not even one piece about it in my books. In internet I found the answer in small tiny sentence, only on one web page between 3 milion of other pages..

Seems like that nurses here have to be a nurse/doctor/respiratory therapist/dietetician etc in one...

I am waiting for results

Thank you for posting that. It is a very good reminder to everyone that this test is something that we can all PASS. I haven't checked back here for a couple weeks, but this was a great GREAT first post to read! I am taking my NCLEX soon and I will pass.
