Re: UnitedHealth pays $20 million to settle claim problems

I wish this article was longer and offered more explanation of the problem. I have UnitedHealthcare and have had nothing but problems with them. For example, I went to an in network ER with chest pain. Since then I have received bills from nearly everyone involved in my care telling me that my claims have been rejected. The reasons they give for the rejection are ridiculous. I look forward to hearing more about this issue.

Re: UnitedHealth pays $20 million to settle claim problems

I worked for United Healthcare and had their insurance. I never had any problems, although I never had any serious health problems while I was insured by them either. One of my coworkers just about went crazy trying to get them to pay claims though.

I think it can depend a lot on the area of the country in which you live. The company I work for has its corporate offices in the South and they tell us all the time that UnitedHealthcare is the best insurance down there. However, here in the North and specifically in my area we have had many difficulties.

I have UnitedHealth and have never had a problem. I've had some major claims, too. 6 weeks hospitalization, 3 abdominal surgeries, 6 months home health care, etc.

UnitedHealth/Golden Rule is one of the best health insurance corporations out there...which means this is kinda scary.
