Trauma in Ontario's ERs

Found while visiting Niagra Falls, Ontario Karen

From The Globe and Mail:

Trauma in Ontario's ERs

KAREN HOWLETT
Print Edition 09/10/06 Page A9

John Carter can't recall the last time he made it home in time to tuck his two young children into bed. The emergency-room doctor's workday typically stretches well beyond the normal finishing time as he copes with a chronic shortage of other doctors and an overcrowded waiting room. He hits the ground running and rarely stops for breaks.

Do they use NP's and PA's in Canada? They are highly useful in ER. Since the "anesthetists" in Canada still decry the use of CRNA's, I can only conclude that the MD's continue to shoot themselves in their feet.
