no.
they are not 8 yr olds.
they are young adults.
and if they don't know better by now, they never will.
coddling our youth is not the answer.

If they're young enough to be coddled for such an aggregious act, then they were too young to have the job in the first place. Thir real problem isn't their age, it is that they obviously have some disconnect when it comes to basic human decency.

Re: Teen CNA's Face Obscenity Charges

first off, i think it is such a shame that someone (any age or gender) would find some kind of joy or humor or whatever in taking a picture of an elderly person's genitals! Do they not have a grandparent? Or a sense of decency? Obviously not!

I know its wrong to group all teenagers together, but personally, i dont think the majority of teenagers are mature enough to deal with a job that helps other people in the most intimate of ways. I'm sure some are, but i think there should be an age limit on people working in the healthcare field.

IMHO, their behavior extends far beyond simple immaturity. The least mature people I know, including young children, wouldn't do a thing such as this. It simply wouldn't occur to most people, and if it did, there'd be no motive. There is something wrong with anyone who finds humor or enjoyment in these kinds of things. I hope they stay far, far away from me and mine.

I posted about this earlier, but I see it bears repeating.

These were not "young, silly teens". These were young adults. The media likes to say "teens" when it suits, such as something like this. More sensational, I suppose. But then it says "young women" or "young men" when it suits as well.

An 18 year old can be called by our government to a foreign land to engage in hand-to-hand combat and die in pieces in a mud puddle. Is this also a "young, silly teen"??

We owe the young ADULTS of our society a helluva lot more than brushing THIS kind of atrocity under the rug of Immature Silliness. Unconscionable.

And another thing: age is NOT the cure. Depravity such as was demonstrated here can only grow and fester. They may be embarrassed that they were caught, perhaps even embarrassed at their actions, but in no way do I believe they will be "cured" of this personality defect simply by continuing to breathe for a few more years.

The only "good" to come of finding these social misfits now is to allow the public to know who they are and hence, avoid them in the future.

i agree with you mercy.
this is not a case of immaturity at all.
it's downright scary if there is no conscience in the degradation of a sick & vulnerable person.
what other evil are they capable of?
how does one 'teach' or appropriately punish one, when there is an absence of morality 101?

Re: Teen CNA's Face Obscenity Charges

If the victim had been a child, would sexual abuse charges have been filed? It seems to me that photographing an elderly woman's genitals is a form of sexual abuse as well. The scenario is the same: a helpless victim, and a perpretrator(s) who is abusing their position of authority/power.

Re: Teen CNA's Face Obscenity Charges

I currenty work with a medication aide that was fired from her previous job for taking pictures with her camara phone of a male residents genitals. But our company hired her and is now paying for her to go to LVN school. She was never formally charged for the offense.

I dont think its the legislation that is lagging, its the prosecutors who wont get off their butts and PROSECUTE! They take the easy way out, and think that "oh we got them guilty on SOMETHING anyway, leave me alone". Oh, poor overworked prosecuting attorney's, waa waa waa
