I find it very hard to believe that technologically proficient people would even ask questions like this!
I don't even carry a purse. Theft happens, and it hasn't happened to me because I keep my valuables on my person.
I usually get my breaks. What I do on my break is my business. If I feel like calling my mother to ask if she's still having heart palpitations or would she like to come in to the ER, I pull out the phone, turn it on and call from the privacy of a locked bathroom. If my kid forgot his lunch money, I can see that he's text-messaged me and coordinate some kind of solution with his father.
Once again to the OP, I apologise for the thread straying OT.
Once again, I agree that what these girls did was heinous.
However, I do not believe that health care facilities can (or should!) try to police the personal electronic equipment that visitors, patients, doctors, and employees have on their persons. I especially disagree with the notion that ONLY NURSING STAFF needs to have these items confiscated or removed from their persons while doing their job.
This is my last post on the topic. If you want to disagree that badly with my position, forget changing my mind because it will simply not happen. I suggest (again) that you start a new thread.
