Study finds hospital safety efforts lagging

Hospitals have been much too slow adopting essential safety practices, from using computers to ensure their patients get the right prescriptions to making sure their staffs get enough sleep. That’s the assessment of a new study that surveyed more than 100 hospitals in Missouri and Utah to see what progress they made in improving patient safety from 2002 to 2004.
