Scholarships keep nurses in Maryland, survey says

Recipients of nursing scholarships in Maryland are very likely to remain in nursing -- and in Maryland -- after fulfilling their service requirements, according to a new survey.

The Survey of the Recipients of Maryland Nursing Scholarships, conducted by the Maryland Higher Education Commission, found that 99 percent of the nurses who received financial assistance and are now completing their service obligation said they planned to remain in nursing after their service obligations run out. And 96 percent indicated that they intend to remain in Maryland and work as nurses.
