I still have her peds book and will always keep it. I got to hear her speak at a conferance on pediatric pain about 10 years ago and she was amazing. What a loss! God bless her and her family.

One wonders if those early treatments for the alleged leukemia caused her to develop it later.

Sigh.

I'm grateful to have benefited from her knowledge, insights and industry.
Close by, eh? I didn't realize she was from right in my own backyard. I had her textbook when I did pediatric nursing and I've seen the famous faces pain scale.

Back when Dr. Wong had leukemia, there was considerable resistance to the idea of medicating a child with ANY narcotic analgesics. One of her missions, in working on the Wong-Baker pain scale, was to get health care professionals to take children's pain seriously.
