Roseburg hospital nurses vote in union

ROSEBURG - Nurses at the Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg have voted to join the Oregon Nurses Association, in what labor observers said was the second-largest election victory for a private union in Oregon this decade.
The union represents 10,000 nurses in nearly 50 health care facilities, agencies and health departments in the state.

On Wednesday, 275 of the 310 nurses eligible to participate in the election cast ballots for or against forming a union.
A total of 178 nurses, or 65 percent, voted in favor and another 97, or 35 percent, were opposed.

Re: Roseburg hospital nurses vote in union

How can so many RN's oppose a union. Union dues will more than be made up for in the next contract negotiation. Plus they are tax deductable. Management has free reign when there is no organization to protect the workers!
